France is introducing dedicated lanes for carpooling, taxis and zero-emission vehicles.

The signal is like the one below, as I understand the background can also be blue.

The fine for non-compliance appears to be €135.

Note: On motorways, a lane may have variable use, displays will show it by turning on a symbol of the same shape.

Another good reason for to stay away from cities. Great to visit, but I'd rather find a site/aire outside and use the bus/train/tram.

It needs to be done in Dublin, but alas the Insurance Companys will not allow this to happen, in Ireland.

Aye, but it'll be mainly around cities where they are commuting I'd say. Ah well, the weather and the welcome will still be good in France.

France has introduced a new type of lane on motorways. This new lane is specially designed for carpoolers (cars with more than two occupants).

In addition, you may also use this lane if you have a Crit'Air 0 logo, which are awarded to low-emmission cars, electric vehicles and taxis.

The new measurement was introduced to encourage more environmentally friendly driving behaviour.

The lanes are identified by a white diamond-shaped logo on a black or blue background.

So far, the logo can only be found on the A48 near Grenoble and the A6/A7 (M6/M7) near Lyon. Artificial intelligence-based flash units are used to count the number of occupants.

I'll have at at least 5 on board on the family holiday, I'll be interested to see how their AI copes with 5 of us in a B-Class if I encounter one of these lanes :). They'll need infrared cameras at the very least.

You could also get a Crit’Air sticker for your electric vehicle, and slip it 🤔😱
