Mobile phone use on holiday.....
If you are going on holiday shortly, anywhere outside the UK, here are a few things to remember so you don't get a big bill when you return.
Only O2 allows your UK data allowance to be used in Europe and only up to 25gb per month.
For Vodafone, EE, 3 you will need to pay for extra EU data. Check before you go. However in general connect to wifi wherever you can in restaurants, hotels etc, try and use a VPN, a paid for one, not a free one.
Any calls you make while in EU will be treated as international calls and you will be charged if you don't have international call allowance in your package. Best tip is to call via Signal, Google Meets, facetime or insecure WhatsApp while on wifi.
If you have kids with phones, ask your provider to place a spend cap on their sim cards in case they 'forget' the above rules.
