front axle narrower than rear axle does it affect stability while driving?

Recently changed our van from a 96 A class hymer to an 07 dethleffs A class

The new van feels slightly less stable , could be lots of reasons, just wondered if the shorter wheelbase and narrower front axle could impact handling?

If anything it would be steadier on the road Terry,

Is there anything wrong with the suspension? Correct pressure?

Have you a bike rack high up on the back wall as I had on last mh and found a big difference with the bikes on the rack, cured it by adding a support bar that bolted on beside the towbar, It seemwd to transfer the weight dosn to the towbar making for a steadier drive,

Just my thoughts and experience

I drive a Dethleffs. It's a sow. Seriously considering selling and going for a Sprinter or a MAN conversion.

My front is very much more narrow than the rear, I find that that she wanders a little, but rides ok. I'm actually fitting adjustable airbags into the front springs to firm them up a bit and raise the front a little.

Check your tyre pressure, and general suspension parts I find the extra wide rear axle very good except on narrow roads with cats eyes, you get the front wheels off them and the rear ones go over them 🤬

I have a Ford Transit which has a wider back end than front and don't find the handling any different to all the Fiats i have had ,but when i first got the van i was driving over the Woodhead Pass coming back from Sheffield and clipped the kerb with the rear end on a tight bend which threw me into the middle of the road ,luckily nothing was coming the other way and i am aware of it all the time now.
