Pop-top Problem

Any Reimo Pop-top experts out there?
One of my gas struts keeps popping off its ball-joint.
The strut is apparently fairly new, but looking at it I can see the metal band-type circlip that grips the ball seems worn on one side, also the ball itself is worn-looking.
I'm hoping that I can find a replacement ball and socket set, otherwise I'll have to buy a complete strut. Anyone know of a Reimo spare parts stockist in Ireland?
There's something amiss because the whole pop-top isn't sitting completely down on the roof, the front is ok but there's a finger width gap all the way round the rest.
If I push down on the driver's side, I hear the strut on the other side popping off. (Driver's side completely ok btw)
I've made sure there's nothing blocking the pop-top itself and the tie downs are fine and tight. There's a springy-ness there, as if something is preventing it from settling but I'm two days trying to sort it with no success....other than the feckin strut coming off regularly, meaning a broom stick and wedges to open the pop-top on that side enough to tap the strut back on.
The scissor hinges are both ok btw.
I'll post this first then try posting pics. (second attempt, don't want to lose the post again!)

Im no expert on the reimo pop top Tony but I replaced the gas struts on my side locker door,
The new struts came with new balls but the old balls were perfect so i left them in place,

You are welcome to the new balls if they are any good to you,
i also have the circlips off the old struts if they will get you out of a spot,

Ill find the vernier caliper and measure the balls and edit this with the size of the balls for you,

I can pop them in the post no probs 👍🏽

Update,
ball is 10mm diameter & 30mm from tip of the ball to the last thread,
I have 2 circlips to suite also,

That would be great if the size is right... I'll measure my balls tomorrow morning (sorry, couldn't resist that one) and let you know sizes, and whether the socket is actually removable from the strut (surely it is?)

Panic over. I went to our local engineering supplies workshop/shop on the off-chance they might have something. They supply local farmers with tractor spares
The guy disappeared around the back of the stock shelves and reappeared after 5 minutes with a new ball and socket, slightly different model but fitted perfectly and is working well.
Offers of assistance much appreciated but now not needed.... long live the old-style retailers who have boxes of bits 'aroubd the back ' and know just where to find what you need!

Had the same type of experience, when looking for struts for the bonnet on my van, Happy Campers, in Wexford, sent me around to Ferns Engineering, farm and tractor spares, they matched up struts the same length and strength. With detachable ends. And a lot cheaper than on line.
