It seems that this country and their Poly-tics (Poly meaning many and ticks meaning blood sucking parasites) are hell bent on preventing motorhome tourism in this country.

At 10am this morning representatives of the council served notice to the operator of the new motorhome stopover facility in Fahan on the Inishowen penisula to close with immediate effect citing "planning issues".

Still, Rosslare awaits and the boats still run.

Well what a joke, motorhomes have been using that location for a very long time .
Now when someone takes charge of controlling it this happens .
I really hope they will see that local business does benefit from motorhomes stopping there and maybe have a rethink .

Ridiculous. Sounds like vested interests getting involved.
We all know the planners in this country are so corrupt they make the mafia look like angels.

Can they ‘close’ but leave the fresh water tap and black water disposal facilities open, with a donation box?

Typical councillors not getting there wee kickback.😡 There is I'm sure a few thousand euro spent already at that site 🤔 such a pity as it was a handy starting location if you were going up around Malin..

The problem is that the council will make the conditions so onerous and so ridiculously expensive that the land owner will just forget about reopening.

Donegal tourism-Nil ……….. French Tourism-Win.

The vested interests have got their way again at the hands of a system so corrupt it makes the mafia look like angels.

Isn’t she a grand wee gombeen of a country we have, with a grand collection of arseholes running it.

Don't get me started.

I'm convinced that the planning regs are opaque and obtuse by design to make room for corruption.

Otherwise, if they were easily understood and planned for, how else could they dangle those unexpected your-water-mains-needs-to-be-moved-three-inches-to-the-left-type problems to fish for bribes from applicants who are already over a barrel?

They're a despicable bunch.

By the way, the above is in no way a comment on this particular case.

Just to be clear 😬

They seem to no problem getting a planning strategy overnight for accommodation for hundred’s and thousands of illegal immigrants in the country, but a local man north or south can’t park his tax paid insured hard worked for Motorhome a bit of tarmac can’t avoid it anymore, it’s on every news now,and it’s true

Hundreds & Thousands!

:-/ I'm not quite sure we have hundreds and thousands of immigrants and I'm also unsure about the number of which are illegal. I can't recall reports of the Irish Navy having to patrol our waters to counter illegal immigrants. If it has been reported I must have missed it so I'm open to correction.
Asylum seekers is a different matter and in the first instance it's a different term. Sure we're all asylum seekers in one shape or another...I sought asylum in a few pints last night and asylum is sought when I get aboard Wanderly Wagon also. It's unfortunate to add misfortunes into the narrative when they flee oppression and this topic refers to our own planning woes. Perhaps those on the barricades in Inch Co. Clare might consider that three thousand years ago the native indigenous peoples living a short hop from Inch outside Ennis in the Burren in Co. Clare were dark skinned and dark eyed...and they were immigrants too as they lived a nomadic lifestyle. I think I might just change the pet name of our camper from Wanderly Wagon to ''Direct Provision'' as I'm hoping it'll directly provide me with some chilled Carlsberg from Denmark and Peace and Quiet somewhere in the Burren. Enjoy the weekend y'all!

We Irish would do well to remember that we were first in the door of Ellis Island immigrant inspection and processing station in the United States when we had no options other than the emigrant boat
