Help again windscreen wipers on my Fiat Ducato

 ·
Posted: 12.05.2023  ·  #1
So the debacle of trying to get the windscreen wipers on my Fiat Ducato motorhome working, has entered another dimension. I have successfully replaced the motor, only to find the linkage is bollocksed ( that’s a wee technical term). I ordered new linkage, which has arrived, only to discover it’s for a left hand drive vehicle. The supplier will accept a return, but have informed me that the right hand drive version is no longer manufactured. In a world of sunny days/no rain/no MOT, I could happily continue to pretend all is right with the world, but that just ain’t gonna work. I have emailed manufacturers/breakers, searched the World Wide Web and have drawn a blank. I have visited the off licence this evening, in the hope that the contents of my wee blue carrier bag will help me forget about windscreen wiper linkage for at least one evening. So far, it isn’t working. Can anyone suggest anywhere they have personal knowledge of, that may possibly have the linkage for a 1995 Fiat Ducato, Right Hand Drive?

Thanks everyone for your replies/suggestions/help. I have sent enquiries to anyone who may have suitable parts on donedeal. I can’t find anything on gumtree. EBay hasn’t come up with any right hand drive options. I’ve spent so long restoring and working on this girl and I can’t believe I’m going to be defeated by flippin’ windscreen wipers!

Will I?? I’m not so sure 😢 I know it’s a very old vehicle, but I can’t understand why they still make the part for a left hand drive, but not for a right hand drive. I’ll be gutted if I can’t get it sorted.

Have you tried Micks Garage, I was recently pleasantly surprised that they had a window regulator in stock for my 2003 Volvo.

Who are you getting it from, do you know where they are based. I've never heard of them.

His name is Darragh McGinn. He’s in Newcastle, Co Wicklow. He advertises on Donedeal as camperparts.ie. I’ve paid via PayPal, so hopefully I’m protected if things go tits up.

Since Saturday there has been, hail, snow, thunder storms, we are in Moncofa now and it Rained last evening anb looks to be going to do the same tonight, the mercury says 21°. I suppose someone has to do it, it's 5 years since we have been back.

I've made some inquiries at home, and that guy is for real, I'm suspicious so I will still look into him later, let us know if and when you get the part.

I’m gutted to hear the weather has been so bad for you! I hope it picks up soon 🤞🏻. I’ve reread your post a couple of times and I’m not sure if you mean the person I ordered the part from is legit or not?? Im worried now 😬. Can you clarify please?

I made some inquiries at home, and the business is there in. Newcastle Co wicklow, the comment I got back was, he has a lot of old stuff and junk around, and he "he knows how to charge" so he does exist, and seems to be legit.
Weather here is nice but wind every day and seems to be building. Back to Valencia Wednesday.

Yeah, the part was expensive for a second hand part, but to be honest, I’m just delighted that I’ve been able to get one! I emailed him this evening and he says he’s posted it today.

Glad your weather is nice…..it’s got to be better than home, it’s still cold here for May. Safe travels 👍🏼

I had problems with slow sticky windscreen wipers on 1992 ducato. Especially intermittent not starting on dry windscreen. It was mostly water ingress into the bushings penetrating the cab shell. I simply dismantled them, cleaned and lubricated and they worked fine after that. Seal with grease and a flexible washer. Lube from time to time. I also lubricated the joints in the mechanism. One was damaged but I managed to swap the plastic bushes around to get it going again. It is not difficult to remove and service the whole mechanism.
