Possible Insurance Hassle?

I've seen sense and cancelled my 'Vintage VW Camper' purchase plan...the July 1st Ethanol deadline spelt worries regarding an older engine.
So I'm now seriously looking at a 2013 Vauxhall Vivaro conversion. Lovely van, professional conversion, ideal size for me.
Having just talked to my broker, it seems I have to also have keep my car and insure both vehicles with them. Also they may require some sort of conversion inspection certificate?
I won't be in a position to keep two expensive vehicles on the road... could I simply insure the Vivaro as a van and sell the car? Or is there an Irish insurance company that will insure the Vivaro on it's own? Just asking...
All advice and comments appreciated as always.

Dolmens will let you have the van as your sole vehicle, from memory its around €700.

You may start phoning around.
You won't get the cheeper deal,
( camper tax and insurance) but when you combine both car and van, it has to be a better deal. To pay extra for a van only drive.
I've seen disc's on campervans from FBD and AA, with a €333 tax disc. I think that's for under 3000kg unladen weigh.

Contact bill at info@motorcaravanclub.com
They do single vehicles and van conversions cheaper than Dolmens.

Email sent, many thanks! 🤞

I have my my MH insured with Dolmens it is around €700 including two 10% discounts for security features.
Mcc would have been cheaper but there was a lot of forms to fill in.

I’n with Adrian Flux who I know have a debatable reputation and although I had my car, motorhome and a couple of classic military vehicles insured with them I sold the car after the first lock down in 2020 and have not got one since and they have never asked if I still have a car. Not sure if they insure ROI though. If they only ask for proof that you have a car when you first insure with them you could sell the car afterwards if you already have one maybe 🤫

They do ask for your current car policy number.

They used to be brilliant for panel van conversions in the past were you just sent loads of detailed pictures and they would have agreed with you on a valuation ,and that was that, they were the only ones that done it,now unfortunately it’s an agreed valuation form, from a dealership who sells cars and fixed cars under the one roof so they can give you an “valuation document “ stamped by the dealer

I would tread carefully with that idea because if a claim ever arose they could ask for the present car policy.
Never trust an insurance company to play ball in the event of a claim.

Wouldn't trust Flux with capacitor.
