Hi and help,
I have a 2005 Fiat Rapido 7086 with a Dometic seven series fridge freezer.
When I purchased this vehicle six years ago and checked it over I found that on the right hand side of the distribution board there was a 30amp fuse( no 6) which over time had got hot. Checked usual sites and read it was not uncommon in a well used motorhome, so cleaned up the connections and all was well until last year. On a return trip the pcb on top of the freezer started buzzing intermittently and when home checked out the AES systems and found the grey control box at the rear of the unit had poor connection and was not allowing the gas system to work. Cleaned and all was ok and a short run didn’t bring on the buzzing. Happy days? N, over the course of last year the noise came and went, Fridge/freezer working ok and looking at all the posts on different site and checking all the connections available to me thought I was not going throw money at it, and wait for it to fail completely.
Last week it did, no power at all to the control panel, as we were only going for four nights and the beers would chill outside I would investigate when home.
Found the problem easy enough by following the wire diagram at the back of the Dometic manual. It was a violet wire from the permanent block that keeps a live feed to the instrument front panel on top of the freezer that had corroded through, replaced it and working ok, but that buzzing noise still there so decided to look a bit more in-depth to see if I could find it.
All voltatage as far as I can see from the batteries and the splitter relays change over and act as they should and where possible checked running the the vehicle with a tester to see if there was a voltage drop off which might bring on a relay not getting the correct voltage and making/braking and causing the noise.
Nothing, sorry it’s gone on but I’ve now stopped looking as I when I checked the feed from fuse 6 I found 14.2 at the bottom blade and 12.8 at the top one which to me is not correct. As I have been unable to get a proper skimatic? Can any one help please. The 3 amp fuse is good as are the rest of the fuses.
