Hi Everyone - new, and already looking for help!!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for letting me join, and post.
I became the proud owner of my first campervan (converted Renault Master MWB) last year, having begged, sulked and more or less cried until I got my own way and my other half eventually caved in. It's been a dream of mine for decades to own a campervan, and my other half now LOVES the life. Phew.

Is there any insurer of campervans who will insure the campervan as a main vehicle or do all of them require you to be insured on a car first? I'm currently insured with the van with Dolmen and am very happy with the insurer, but would switch to another provider if there is one that would insure me on the campervan as primary/only vehicle. Does any insurer do that?

My local authority (Cork City Council) today rejected my on-street resident's parking permit renewal application for my car on the grounds that they changed the rules a few months ago and no longer issue more than one resident's parking permit per named applicant and I already have an in-date resident's parking permit for the van. This is new, as up to a few months ago, they issued up to 3 permits per applicant. I looked in to all of that before I bought the campervan and the rules only changed a few months ago, with no warning! While I'd be happy to get rid of my car, I believe that I have to be insured on a car as primary vehicle in order to be insured on the campervan - is that correct?
My wife has a car, but her car insurance is paid for by her employer so I can't mess around with that. She needs her car for work.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Welcome to MHC Mary, you could try and see can you be a named driver on your other halfs car or just tell Dolmen your using the van all the time and they'll increase your premium to around € 800 ,a phone call to them will sort it
