First Timer - Does and Don'ts please

Hi All, thank you for accepting me on this forum. I'm afraid I'm very green when it comes to motorhoming despite being a tent camper for many years. I just collected my motorhome on Wednesday and we are so excited to get going so thinkin of doing a test trip this weekend. I was wondering about the temperature though - do you guys leave you're heating on over night when sleeping in it at this time of year? Does it go on a low setting or do you just draw straws as to who gets up in the in the cold to hit the heating on in the morning? also please feel free to bombard me with any other advise you may have, its all greatly appreciated

good luck with your new moho!....if its a blown air type such as Truma, then leaving it on a low setting would be fine. Fanes can be a bit annoying though if noisey. Diesel blown heaters the same. A big duvet does us and we have camped in alps on ski trips. Also it depends on the insulation in your van too...enjoy the freedom either way!

You will probably get different answers to this from different people. If on electric we use a small oil filled radiator as anything with blown air dries our throats. When not on electric we use the gas heater on low but have just recently had a diesel heater fitted and its our preference. It's blown air but has a remote so we just switch it on from the bed if it gets cold.

It depends on which system you have (Truma, Webasto, others?) and which control unit you have.
If Truma with CP Plus controller you can set the desired temperature.
I typically leave it on all night at 16°C, more than enough to sleep well.
The CP Plus also has the possibility of setting a switch-on time, we sometimes use it in spring and autumn.

Welcome to the forum and never be afraid to ask, ask any questions….. we all started where you are.
I’ll reiterate all of the above, all depends on Your vehicle, you’re own preferences etc.
Just go and enjoy and you’ll soon have it down to a fine art !
Where in the country are you?, you’ll get offers of help from someone nearby if needed.
