Don’t try in France !! 🤢

Have travelled through France in the past week and stayed in various hotels and dined in restaurants.
All were lovely, but understanding the menus can sometimes be fun.
So this brings me to “What food to never order in France

While in the town of Colmar in eastern France I ordered the
Andouillette AAAAA, sauce moutarde - frites & salads”
It is a ‘pork’ sausage with mustard sauce with chips & salad. To say it is an acquired taste is stretching the imagination, very strong flavour and an aroma to match with a chewy texture. I ate the meal (I’ve a strong stomach & will eat anything) but if I see it in a menu in the future I shall “read on by” !!
Google it and see the ingredients !

So, what have you ordered and found it “interesting”, something you won’t repeat.

It takes all sorts, and part of the pleasure of travelling is sampling different cuisine, something I’ll continue to do, even if it sometimes proves a challenge !.

Food poisoning in Calais many moons ago when I were a lad.

Nothing hurt so much as those cramps, hospital job. No idea what I ate.

You won't get in France, but around Valantia, real Paella, Rabbit and Chicken including head's innerdes, testicle's in a sack, feet and Combi.
( heads split in half, eyeball's added last so as not to burst )
The pan is arranged so guests get all the goodies. :ok_hand:😂🍽🍷

You must come here if you want to eat well (and drink the best wine).

Smile, Max

My heater/boiler runs on diesel and unfortunately not on wine.
Without a solar panel, I don't need the EHU in the summer either.
In winter (I don't even have an EFOY) one charge is needed every three days.

“Andouillette”….first time in France years we had it, thought really interesting…till someone said what was in it.
Though I occasionally eat Black Pudding, I don’t think about ingredients.

That was described to me, that if you definitely want to eat something that is dead and smells like it, try “Andouillette”

I had one with chips at a motorway services a number of years ago while traveling to the south of France. It looked great sitting on the hotplate .
I cut into it & it smelled rotten. I tasted it. It tasted as it smelled.🤮
I ate my chips.
Never again.

Rick Stein had one on one of his programs. It showed it being made & described what went into it.
He said it was an acquired taste.
Not an exaggeration.
