Hi all, with the RWC 2023 looming in a few months' time perhaps a thread dedicated to the event is a good idea where those traveling can post their plans and perhaps meet other craicers.
So, here's ours
We are at an advanced stage of planning our trip and here it is so far.
We are booked Cork - Roscoff for Saturday, September 2nd. and heading for Bordeaux.
We have a pool ticket Ireland -Scotland match and a quarter-final ticket. For the games which we don't have tickets for we plan to go to the Rugby Village at Bordeaux for the Ireland - Romania match and Nantes for the Ireland - Tonga before heading to Paris for the remaining pool game and the knock-out stages where we have booked into Camping Paris Maisons-Laffitte. We will be doing a bit of touring in the Champagne region between the pool game and the start of the knock-out rounds.

you may know this already but there is a great Irish bar in Bordeaux called the Connemara owned by Frank who originates from Galway. An absolute blast of a pub

Have a look here, https://www.campingcarpark.com…privileges, you can book a space up to six months in advance.
We will be booking ours early next month, to be sure to be sure to have a place to stay.
We have found a nice Camping mon Village a 40 min train journey from Bordeaux for the Ireland-Romania game and a similar place near Nantes for the Ireland-Tonga game. After that, we are heading to Paris (already booked) for the remainder of the tournament.

Significant progress in my plans, ferry to Cherbourg for family holiday in late August, fly home from Bordeaux for about 10 days.

Return solo to Bordeaux and 2.5 weeks in France taking in the first 3 Irish games, working remotely for 3 to 4 days each of the weeks.

Fly home for about 10 days again and back for the Scotland game and possibly QF...

May look at flying the family over for a Disneyland trip before ferry home.

It's a privilege no doubt but the trade off is that most of the trip will be solo because there's no way I could make a compelling case for remote working if I was travelling with someone else in the van. I'm just delighted it's looking like I'll be able to make it work.

Booked Camping Paris Laffaitte for the SA and Scotland weekends, was looking at Camping De Paris beside Longchamps which is closer to central Paris as the crow flies but I checked out public transport and travel time to Les Halles is about the same but no changes and departures every 6 minutes makes this a winner, thank you.

That's now five mh's flying the Ireland flag there. Why not ask them if they can assign you a pitch close to the other Irish guests, it would make sharing the wine much easier.

Just booked HERE for five nights for the Ireland Romania game in Bordeaux on September 9th. The total price for the five nights is €65.90.

It's about a 40-minute train journey into Bordeaux, there are seven trains each way per day @ €25 return.
With kick-off at 15:30, the last one back is at 21:27 which leaves plenty of time for post-match celebrations.

Just booked for three nights 🙂, Friday Saturday Sunday

In the medieval quarter of Bouffay, in Nantes, Le Rabelais is a beer bar that has an alleyway feel and looks like a sports museum! On match nights, four large screens make all rugby fans happy with a nice choice of pints (to be consumed in moderation). For an "Irish pub" atmosphere, we recommend Gigg's, opposite the cathedral,

We'll be there, we've no match tickets.

Stayed there on my trip this year , its a basic site inside Camping Nantes (not sure if you can use their facilities but we did have a wander about in the campsite) Tram right outside takes you into town for €1.70 (get ticket at stop) Mechanical elephant just through town and it's free (don't go down to the carousel as we did and stand in a queue and the elephant isn't there ). There are services on the campingcarpark site but no electricity .When I mentioned this in a review they said because it's in a protected forest yet it's inside the campsite and they have electricity . wifi is not good either but we found (and i used 10 this trip) that if you park as close to the terminal as you can it's usually passable.

Even with injuries the squad , the strength in every position in replacements are top quality players,I can’t see any of those amazing u20s lads getting a call up, unfortunately,it would be amazing to see some u20s called up for lesser matches if there is such a thing

Squad size restrictions kill that as an option. There will be a lot of experienced players who miss out on the travelling squad, there are guys who haven't even made the training squad that are unlucky.

I have a spare ticket for each of Romania and Tonga games. Bordeaux is a complete shitshow for flights so I'm doing the Romania game solo and had to buy 2 extra to secure the one extra I needed for Tonga.
I'll be putting them on the official resale site in the next few days but said I'd offer them here at face value if anyone is interested. Both Cat 3 tickets and the face value is €48. I can transfer through the official site or meet before game.

Update...
Looks like I have a taker for the Romania ticket from elsewhere but Tonga ticket still available

Apparently in the little scuffle at the start of the second half, Peter O'Mahony said to a Scottish player, possibly Finn Russell, look up at the scoreboard, you're going home tomorrow.

Roll on Saturday, it's incredible to think we're going into a RWC Quarter Final against New Zealand as marginal favourites and worthy of the position.

Anyone else around Paris this week / weekend?
