What parts can I expect to find?

Hi all,

First post as just bought an '05 Adria 670 SK and looking to do some work on it. Rather than trawling the web I was hoping to tap the knowledge of the people who know stuff on the forum!

There are quite a few bits I would like to do with the van and comfortable with most jobs. Where I am a bit lost is around part availability. From what I can see there are 3 categories of parts:

  • Those for the base vehicle, Fiat Ducato in my case
  • 3rd party suppliers, e.g. Dometic, Thetford, etc.
  • The coachbuilder, Adria in my case

The first two seem straightforward, similar to mass production vehicles/appliances, but for the coachbuilder it is not at all clear what to expect. Do they stock all parts, bits of trim, etc. for all models and variants? Are there parts catalogues / exploded diagrams similar to cars? Do they have a defined End of Life for part support?

An example is the roof rail on the van which has a broken corner connector near the ladder attachment point (don't think it's 3rd party as no visible branding on any of the parts). I would prefer a manufacturer spec replacement but is it unreasonable to think this could be sourced from Adria on a 17 year old van?

Appreciate any advice,
Jamie

Welcome to MHC Jamie, I think Pat Horan motorhomes is an Adria dealer so he should be able to source original parts for you

Thanks eirebus, I think that was where the van was originally bought. I'll give them a shout and see how far I get with it.

Health to enjoy your new van!

An Adria dealer as eirebus says probably your best bet but there are Motorhome breakers about GB. Or someone handy with a 3d printer 😁

Don’t know what country you are in but these guys carry a lot of Fiat base vehicle parts and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and will post to the north. May not be the cheapest but you’ll get the right parts

That's great, hadn't found them searching online. Will give a try if can't find the parts closer to home. I'm based in Dublin BTW.

Jamie,
As much as many hate Facebook I have joined a Mobilvetta owners group page and they have been of assistance when needed. There’s bound to be one for Adria albeit possibly uk based.

Good luck with your new MH.
Regards Jamie

FB can certainly be useful, it's a pity it's such a bad format, abused by it's owners and we are the victims.

But certainly that's where the action is.

For the 2005 Ducato bits and advice there is a FIAT Ducato forum which is worth a look at. For bits there are websites like Micks Garage, Irish. Mr Auto, French, part of the PSA Group. and Auto Doc, German. All deliver to Ireland.
For the Adria bits, most of which would be 'off the shelf' visit Nolan Camper Supplies , I came across them at the Holiday Fair and they have a huge catalogue of parts.

Thanks everyone for the info. Just as a follow up I contacted Pat Horan Motors the Adria dealer. They were very helpful in trying to find part numbers and source the parts but to no avail. Apparently, according to an EU directive, vehicle manufacturers must provide replacement parts up to 10 years after manufacture but after that it is a matter of luck as to whether a specific part is available in a warehouse somewhere.

No luck this time, anyway, so I'll just fabricate something for the required parts.

When I had an older Hymer it was exactly the same story with Donaghey's in Letterkenny (unfortunately now closed). Parts were so hard to find and when I hunted them down, they were so very expensive. I often had to compromise and replace OEM parts with closest match where possible. It got quite annoying for me actually and that was one of the reasons I sold the Hymer and bought a VW crafter and did a conversion with all brand new parts that were easilly replaced.

Same story with me, 1998 compact. Have tried to source a shower door and small Seitz window stay but no joy.

Fortunately fingers crossed all major systems work but I dread the day when something important goes.

This forum suggested and named breakers yards and I emailed a couple but no reply. Didn't follow up with calls. In my case i suspect I would need to find breakers in Germany.

Camper is fairly rare, have yet to see another one on the road here in over 6 months and because of where I live I do see a lot of campers about. Reading this thread though got me looking on FB and I have asked a couple of UK owners who are/were selling them if they could source parts. Just waiting for replies now.

Like yours it's a Ducato base and engine wise there doesn't seem to be any issues getting parts

Parts a widely available if you know whereto look. I’ve had 2 1992 talbot express vehicles and never struggled for any part. Engine or habitation area
