A while ago now but worth a reminder....

Fire officers have issued a warning about using electrical extension leads after an inquest into the deaths of a father and son in a caravan blaze.

Robert Taylor, 58, and Andy Taylor, 26 from Flint, were caught in the fire which is thought to have been caused by a coiled-up extension lead.

thanks for that ally ,i had the van plugged in the other day with an ordinary extension lead after an hour or so i came back and the unrolled cable was very hot.so i unrolled it and it was fine after a while

Was caught out on this one when we had the touring caravan ,luckily we were sitting in the awning when we became aware of the lead melting .We always fully unwind the cable now. Emily

I put mine on a garden hose reel and it was only when Stevie pointed out about it heating up that I remembered it could happen if not fully rolled out.

Done the same thing years ago and ended up with loads of smoke, but my memory ain't what it used to be :lol:
