Spain tomorrow

I’m on the midnight ferry (that would be a great song title) to Bilbao tomorrow, my first time on the two night crossing.
Weather looks good especially further south.
Not sure yet whether to head due south or to the south east. I’ll know by 8am Sunday morning when we are scheduled to get off the ferry. No more 20cents discount at the pumps but the overall reduction in shopping costs will hopefully more than make up for it.
I’ll do some updates as and when.

We are on our way back from Andalusia. Nice sunny weather.
In 15 days just one morning raining (Jerez).
Morning average 15 to 18°C, nights often need heater switched on.

Areas seldom have EHU.
How are you with gas/bottles?

Have gaslow refillable bottles so no problem finding lpg. And blankets for the really cold nights.
Just hoping the ferry is on schedule.

Jamie, (or anyone else) I will be interested to hear about your Brittany ferry to Bilbao but as we are planning to go in May don’t they change to Galicia . Is it one or two nights on board ?
We had planned to go in 2020. The absolute max we will go is 45 days ( holiday insurance multi trip max) .
Go about May 10th, home June before the fares always increase at that time of year, but come home by Cherbourg.
Any suggestions of where to go northern Spain …..before we head up through France.
I have looked at prices from Cherbourg to Ireland and I think Irish Ferries for price and more sailings and go flexi incase we decide to go home earlier.
Anyone else planning to be away around the same time.?

The Salamanca is a good ferry, much better than the one it replaced.
Meals are included in the fare, it is definitely French themed and we found the food to be of acceptable quality.

The crossing can be one or two nights depending when you embark.
If it’s before noon embarkment then you will be onboard one night and two days…..
If you embark after 6pm then you will be on 2 nights and one day.
The beauty of the 2 night/1day crossing is that you arrive early in the morning in Spain….. the one night crossing leaves you disembarking the ferry late at night.

Lots of places in Northern Spain to go and the weather at that time of year will be nice. We always arrive October and go south towards Portugal/ Spain for the sun.

ACSI/P4N/Campercontact will have all you need.

Galicia is very similar to Salamanca however they are scrapping the inclusive meal, but you can still buy the same food it is just not included in the ticket price.

Loads of choices in northern Spain just head right from Bilbao.
