So we are on the way, when I say we I mean my wife Alex, she flew to Belgium yesterday and will be back at the weekend if all goes well getting the export plates :)

Hi all,
Would post a photo but for some reason can’t figure out how.

On an iPhone and on extended editor not getting option to upload a photo.

Only seem to have the img tags etc.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong lol

Perhaps only available on a computer will try tomorrow.

Another Benimar, we originally wanted to get a Cocoon from Dicar but they didnt have the model we wanted so ended up getting our Northautokapp from Germany last year.

When we went to order it September 2021 was told it would be available march so ordered it.

Went for the 442 as we have a 7 yr old and the fixed bed down the back is ideal for her :) and it is just shy of 7m in length

Just an update on this.

Tried to Tax the van before xmas and tax office wanted it weighed as weight was missing on there system.

So brought her down to an approved weigh bridge in cavan.

As it was for tax and hence i reckon it will be on the reg cert (which am still waiting for) i decided to empty the boot of all the bits and pieces i have added.

so went with 1/2 fuel, about 20l water full gas, and everything i had inside (the usual stuff - ktichen stuff,towels bedding TV, full gas etc)

Weighed in at 2780Kg so overall im happy with it.

That's a great payload, even allowing for 3 people aprox 220kg it still leaves you loads, happy out. 😁👍

What weight were they looking for 🤔
GVW is on the VIN Plate and the Certificate of Registration of the country of origin.
Unladen weight is not relevant nor recorded on the Registration Certificate for Motor Caravanners (M1 category vehicles)
The actual weight with some load on board is neither the Unladen Weight nor the Gross Vehicle Weight and will be constantly changing.

Most MH log books are works of fiction in the south , make sure they have your GVN weight correct on your log book or you could be in for a world of problems down the line .

When I went to tax it, I had all the paper work COC as it was purchased new and imported I had no reg cert from country of origin. Went through the VRT process with no issues.

Got to tax office and all paper work correct. They put the license plate number into their system and told me that tax can’t be issued as van needs to be weighed as no weight on the system. Pointed at the COC and she said no they don’t trust it lol. So emptied the boot and got it weighed,”. Agree not the gross or unladen weight but as it’s under 3500kg, and has decent payload. Which I now know.

As for the log book haven’t got that yet as they will not issue it until it’s taxed.

Fingers crossed I get the tax now and when log book eventually arrives will go over it to ensure all is as expected.

Mind you no where could I find any info on needing to weigh it for a new import, so was caught out with that.

It doesn't need to be weighed, it looks like the muppet you were dealing with doesn't know his/her job.

When you do get the Registration Certificate make sure the following fields have the correct information.

F.1 should be 3,500kg (if that's what's on the VIN Plate and the CoC)

After what you've been put through G might have the weight from the weighbridge, but it should be blank as it says (Not M1) although it is in reality irrelevant.

J should be M1

D.3 and J.2 should be Motor Caravan

S.1 should have the number of travel (seat belted) seats, as in the CoC.

The above are the details that must be correct as if they are not it could lead to difficulties in any interactions with the law or insurance in the event of an accident.
Incorrect details at F.1, J, and J.2 could also affect toll charges where the National Vehicle and Driver File (NVDF) is the source of information for determining the toll rate.

Super post... might be a good reference for us all to have a check of our log books, as for the tax office wanting the weight.... they're job is to collect tax, the tax will be the same on a motorhome regardless of the weight so what's the point ?

Don't concern yourself for missing something, that is not in the information, it also doesn't say anywhere that you need to know what the engine number is and where it is stamped on the block.
The problem is ,small minded ,petty officials who have to show their supervisors ,that they did indeed read the memo, that said, their job is not to help the people,but to confuse the public by withholding relevant information,and demanding bits of paperwork that bears no relationship to the task they are asked to provide.

Everyone should check the paperwork when it is returned to you from the NCT office, against the COC and the Logbook ( if it is a second hand vehicle ), and there is still, no guarantee that the person in Shannon is capable of transcribing, what is in front of them, onto your new Logbook, so you need to go over it, all over again, when it arrives in the post,

It's all such a simple process, when you are lucky enough to meet the someone who is interested and happy in doing their Job.

The reg cert arrived this morning and all checks out as above. No mention of the weight from the weigh docket supplied for tax.

So it’s all done and dusted now. Going to start enjoying it now.
