Thetford T2090 12v Compressor Fridge

Hi all,

New to campervaning, recently purchased a van which has a Thetford T2090 compressor fridge,

the Fridge does not cool, the compressor seems to make a gurgling noise, and there was a funny smell, may be ammonia,

I left it running for awhile and the compressor got quite warm at the top of the unit,

Presuming the fridge has a leak, is this repairable, could i get a new compressor and fit myself, or is it dead?
