First timer here

Never tried camping of any sort, but all my life I have wanted to give one a shot, so I have just purchased a Dethleffs Globetrotter and have absolutely no idea what I'm out, but looking forward to trying it out.

So many questions, I don't know where to even start or should I start a new post to ask any questions I have?

Got little or no info from the seller, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible right away
No idea what model I have, it's a 2000 Globetrotter (4 berth) and have looked around online but can't seem to find any manuals or anything to help me find my way around

Does anybody know how I can identify the actual model itself as there seems to be so many versions of the Globetrotter?
Then I need to start figuring out how everything works!!

Welcome to the Craic MadMike. We were all clueless first timers at some stage, some of us could still be considered clueless after twelve years. I don't know about manuals but you're in the right place to ask questions. If you post some photos with specific questions it would be a help. I think you need a certain number of posts before you can upload photos so the more comments you make the quicker the number of posts rise. I'm sure there'll be someone more helpful along shortly.

Thanks a million. I suppose that's true actually. We all have to start somewhere, but looking forward to getting stuck in and out on the road. I'll definitely run through any items I need help with or have questions about and try to post them in the relevant sections and hopefully will be able to add pics wherever and whenever I need to

Welcome to MHC Mick, you've made a good choice of van with the Globetrotter,as has been said if you can post a few pics,it would help in identifying the exact model you have

Thanks very much for the welcome messages
Just trying to post a couple of shots here to see if this works

Having fun already! Filled the water tank this morning after trying it a couple of times yesterday, but each time, there was water pouring out underneath. Finally realised the water tank is under one of the seats and the drain valve was open, so even though it would drain most of the water, it almost created a vacuum and kept a small bit in it and the taps worked yesterday.

Anyway, filled it this morning, turned on 12v and the pump kicked in and ran for maybe a minute or two and then cut out. All seemed good, so went to wash my hands to tidy up and when I shut off the tap, I could hear a spraying sound and suddenly had water flowing out of the bottom of the under sink cupboard.

Immediately panicked and ran outside to open the grey water valve thinking it had filled too much, came back in to streams of water running down the floor, opened the cupboard and the pipe had come off the cold water tap and was spraying everywhere. No idea how to isolate the water flowing, so immediately got in at the water tank and opened the drain valve, but this went on for what seemed like forever and EVENTUALLY all the water was gone. Spent ages mopping up and using towels and finally got under the sink to have a look.

Tried to reseat the push on fitting to the tap. Tried it a couple of times, but it didn't seem to catch, but persisted and finally it sort of clicked into place. Have refilled the tank and ran the pump and used the tap again and so far, it all seems ok!! Fingers crossed

Looking for help on a few bits, but think I'll post in the relevant section and see if anyone can help me out

Welcome Mike, we've all had a panic at some stage,so your not alone, Think for the future most vans have a switch for the 12volt and then some also have a pump switch, so switching off, either or both would have most likely, stopped the water flow.

With all the panic, I never even thought of that! Must try that switch later and see if it totally kills the flow alright

Try putting the VIN number ( not the engine but the Chassis no ) into a parts search engine to see what comes up, also try email the year and VIN number to Dethleff and ask have they instructions manuals for that particular model.

Great idea! I actually never thought of that.

I used to use 7zap.com a few years back for car parts. Just tried it there now but just comes up as a 1994-2002 Fiat Ducato Van. Also tried a VIN decoder and same result. I'll keep trying a few sites and see. I emailed Dethleff on Sunday with the VIN and the year and description requesting a manual but haven't heard anything back yet
