Concorde Compact Battery Setup

Hi,

I'm trying to get some basic understanding of the electrics in the camper. There are 3 batteries in total: engine battery, one behind the drivers seat and one under the passenger seat.

I gather the battery behind the drivers seat is the main living area battery, it is connected to a fuse control box and there is also a trip switch beside it. See photos:

I wondering what the 20A yellow fuse in the fuse box is, I don't recognise the symbol (B1) and the setup seems slightly different to the German manual which I'm trying to translate with Google lens. Would anyone know ?

The battery under the passenger seat looks like:

The manual only seems to talk about the "starter" and "living area" batteries and there are two symbols and readings which can be taken on the living area display/control panel:

I'm presuming the battery symbol with the truck inside is referring to the "starter" battery in the engine and when I press it I get the voltage reading for that battery. And that the other symbol is for the "living area" battery. But is the living area battery a combination of the battery behind the drivers seat and under the passenger seat (i.e. they are connected together) ? Or would it be referring to the battery behind the drivers seat only and the one under the passenger seat is for something different entirely ? And if it is for a different function what could that be ?

A lot of questions I know but I presume it is a fairly standard setup and hopefully some member here can throw light on them.

Thanks Paul.

It's likely the two batteries under and behind the seat are your Hab batteries linked together, your panel shows two linked, and they should be the same size /output.
The engine one will have much heavier leads.
The trip switch is probably for the electric plug in. Plug in a lead and then trip it by pressing the yellow T.
I would say the 20amp is for the electric step, remove it and see if the step works to confirm.
When you press the battery button you get a reading, but if you press it a second time do you get a slightly different one,( which might be the Hab reading) you could check with a meter to see if the readings match. Also look to see if the little red led at B1and B2 light's at the same time to indicate which battery the reading is from.?
The 230V switch on the black panel could be for your battery charger when you are plugged in, (you would need a meter to check) if it is don't leave it on permanently until you know it works automatically, and only charges when needed. Or you could cook your batteries.

Thanks for your help. That symbol does look like a step now that you mention it, however there isn't one in the camper. I guess it is a generic box used across different models, some of which had steps

When the battery icon with the truck is pressed it shows 12.7 and just this. When the icon with the camper is pressed it currently cycles between 12.2 , A , 1.2 which I presume means 12.2V and delivering 1.2 A

The battery warning LEDs don't come on.

The translated manual says the following about the battery LEDs

It is the only place where "starter", "engine" and "living area" batteries are referred to.

Everywhere else is just "starter" or "living area"

All of that is fairly normal, for a good control system, while driving, the Engine and Hab batteries will be charged in turn, the voltage will always be higher when charging, and then drops back to normal, if you check, with the engine running, you will find the engine one heigh and after a run before you stop the engine, the Hab batteries will be heigh. ( showing you, it's all working) the on board 220v charging system, usually does it the other way round, Hab first and then switches to engine, when all, are full it goes to trickle, in the wording it does say IN SOME Models, is yours one of them.?
Have you found if the 230V switch on the control panel is for the charger or something else, ( it Could be a remote for an inverter)

Not sure what the order is. My understanding of the 230V switch is that if it is off and I am plugged in nothing happens. Devices won't work off the 230V socket and batteries won't charge. Next time though I'm plugged in I'll confirm if that is in fact the case.
