Gas Usage

I have 2 standard 11kg gas bottles in my MH. I'm heading off to the continent for 6 weeks.
I'm thinking that I should have loads, but just wanted to get your opinion in case.
I'll have the fridge on pretty much constantly and I'll be cooking in it maybe every second night.
I definitely won't need the heating on. 2 bottles should be more than enough... right? I don't think the fridge uses much at all, like hardly anything, so I think that will be okay to leave on all the time and on some nights I'll be at a campsite with electricity also.

Two cylinders should be OK.
However, if you have one of the adapters below in your kit it opens up the possibility of getting a campingaz 907cylinder, which gives you 2.75kg in the event of an emergency

In my more than thirty years of experience on the continent (no Greece or Sicily), using gas only for refrigerators and cooker, an 11Kg cylinder lasts about 21 days.
Excluding heating and oven if you have it, the variable could be the use of hot water for the shower.

Great suggestion of baguette, Camping Gaz cylinders are available everywhere on the continent.
See https://www.campingaz.com/gasfinder/.
Enter the city where you are and click on the "Gas Cylinder" box on the right.

Max

p.s. Truma has sets of adapters for the most part of countries.
Don't buy them online, you have the risk to buy and adapter, let say, for German bottles instead of Brits.

The French propane bottle (purple) has the same threaded connection as the Irish one. Most filling stations have gas and a lot of them are automated, choose your language on the screen and follow the instructions. You have to give your email and address. If you don't have an empty cylinder it'll cost you an extra €5.

I'll be in Italy, can I swap the gas bottles that we have here with the ones over there? Are they the same fittings / bottles?

Unfortunately you can't exchange gas bottles in 'foreign' countries.
Eg. Irish bottles can only be exchanged in Ireland and 'foreign' bottles are not accepted here.

Martin joe will take it and make a lovely fire pit when you get back,

seen a home made stove lately on a site where a lad that was fairly handy with the welder and grinder made it,
in his words.....she glows like a brake drum......
