Good campsites close to Barcelona?

I've checked around on the usual apps, but I'm wondering has anyone here stayed in any Aires or campsites close to Barcelona that they could recommend.

I'll be there for three nights in September and I want to find a decent base from which to explore the city.
Any recommendations?

I have always avoided the area after hearing too many stories (unsubstantiated) about pick pockets and thefts from vans.
Others I have spoken to on my travels say park away from Barcelona and get the train in.

Yes I should have clarified, I'm not expecting to get into Barcelona. More like somewhere out the outskirts where I can hop on a train or bus to get into the city.

Check out Torredembarra south of Barcelona. There are a number of ACSI sites there plus a frequent commuter train to/from Barcelona.
The old town of Torredembarra is well worth a visit in itself

We loved Peniscola and the surrounding area, train runs frequently to Barcelona. About €10 if I recall and about 40 minute journey.
