My car insurance renewal notice arrived last week from Aviva Direct.
Last year's premium was 387 euro. This year they quoted 606 euro.
I rang Aviva to query the massive increase, the guy apologised but explained that was the price.
Just before I hung up, he quietly suggested that I apply for a quote as a new customer.
Same car, same details, same everything. The price quoted?
348 euro.
What a bunch of f***ING crooks
Guess which quote I chose,?

Didn’t think that was allowed now. I read something lately that insurance companies can be reported if they do not offer the same price to an existing customer as a new one

Some customer loyalty there, I would have told them to stick it where the sun does not shine.

I think most people miss the real scam that is insurance, Tony have a look at what they say is the actual insurance figure, not what they ask you to pay. I'll bet it is somewhere close to €2000.00. It's where they get their starter figures from is where people should be concerned about, and challenging them on.

Many years ago I had sky tv multi room subscription and it was quite costly but I kept paying, my friend got this great starter deal at a fraction of what I was paying.
I contacted sky about some sort of discount as an existing customer, was told that this deal was only for new customers.
I told them where to go and cancelled my contract.
They contacted me many times but I no longer needed their services and hope never to again.
When you are paying for something you have a choice.

I found my motorhome insurance dropped this year for some reason.

I'd like to say that, bring a man of strong principles and integrity, I told Aviva to shove it.
However..... ironically their revised price was the lowest online, lower than Allianz, Liberty, Chill, 123, An post etc, etc.
Principles don't pay the bills!

Mobile phone companies the same, rob existing customers and great deals for new clients.
Well if they don’t reward loyalty then why the hell will I be loyal to them?
I switch now about every 6 months, show no loyalty to any of them and I’ll drop them like a stone….
It seems to be the business mantra with them, to hell on a handcart and play the system to our advantage.

I have a virgin package, broadband, tv & phone. I was paying £36 per month. contract was coming to an end and they were raising price to £61. I told them I was canceling. After negotiations with different departments and some reductions offered I told them I was still leaving as I couldn’t afford it. They eventually offered me a new contract same as previous one but for £24 per month. Result.
