My Solar Panel

I realise I shouldn't need to ask someone else how my own solar panel works, but there you go, I'm an unashamed newbie and I'm still clueless to a lot of things motorhome related.

I bought a camper recently, it has a solar panel installed and it's in working order and hooked up, or it appears to be at least.

My question is, do I need to do anything to activate it. There doesn't seem to be any controls with it. I understand you can't see my specific setup so it may be hard to say, but how do they usually work? Does the panel just drip feed my battery when I have the van turned on or do I need to be doing something else to enable the solar panel to charge the battery?

Again, apologies for the newbie questions, but this won't be the last of them either! :)

Also, do leisure batteries generally charge themselves when the van is plugged into an electricity hook up? I see there is a battery charger box beside the leisure battery and I'm assuming that is it's function.

Once solar is set up initially it is virtually maintenance free other than cleaning the panels... wash only, do not polish. If the system is old then an upgrade (at least the controller from PWM to MPPT) may be a good idea.
If you've only got the van and you’re not confident of the electrical system I would encourage you to have it checked out, both on vehicle charging/EHU/Solar and have the batteries checked for serviceability.
Do not assume that all works or indeed is OK, I’ve seen many that are not.... if unsure have it checked.
You’re going to the continent for a time and the last thing you need is something not working or giving grief.
