Brother in law recently upgraded to a 360w solar panel in conjuction with a diesel heater. These 2 x 100 w panels are about 6 years old and working perfectly .... 60 euro for the pair... Located in Wicklow Town.

What batteries is the brother inlaw using to run the diesel heater John?

Im needing batteries and my usual Varta A28 are 6 weeks away and gone up €90 each :o since i last bought in 2018 so Im considering Monbat 110ahr,

Anybody have any recommendations on batteries?

I killed my 2 varta's with the diesel heater (but i didnt realise what was causing the batteries to drain until it was too late)....Lesson learned :-/

John....He has 2 x 110ah batteries from Halfords that work well. He just wanted to upgrade panel capacity for the dark winter when its needed most.

My OE batteries were Varta which were replaced by Banner Energy Bulls. My last purchase were Monbat MB_DC27MF Deep Cycle (not leisure). I got them delivered from Island Energy Solutions in Downpatrick for €105 each. The seller was Leisure Batteries Ireland.
I now have them for over three years and they are still performing well.

I wonder who convinced the brother-in-law to go for the 360 W panel 🤔.

How are the lithium’s working out John? Have they been driven hard yet?

Only a few weeks using them but brilliant so far....I doubt I'll ever run them to their limit but one thing I've noticed is how quick they recharge compared to previous AGM batteries....im thrilled with them tbh...Winter will be the acid test but I'm confident they will handle it with ease...

I got about 5 years from them. I killed them prematurely, I have a 50A BtoB and forgot to water them for a good few months and when I did they took about 2 litres each but never recovered.
