Our Swiss Vignette arrived yesterday, courtesy of TNT. Check out the size of the package, sturdy cardboard marked urgent.
Now check out the size of the contents. 19.61 shipping charge.(apparently just posting it wasn't an option).
We were warned that Switzerland was an expensive place, we just didn't expect it to start so soon!

Bloody typical packaging, Amazon is wicked for that.
Bought a couple of small items from them, both came in a big A4 cardboard envelope where, and I kid you not…….. it would have fitted in a matchbox.
Crazy.

It’s hard to get a shipping label on a matchbox though 😂

I never send anything by courier in smaller than a fun size cereal box, anything smaller can get lost in transit I’ve found.

Ok, ok. Please, no more discussion about size.
(It reminds me of my wedding night) ☹

Geez, why not ask in advance ?
Everyone knows that the vignette can be purchased at any border point and also in service areas on motorways while approaching the borders.
At 40CH, equivalent to (roughly) €40.

Max

p.s. The vignette is mandatory only for vehicles under 3.5 tons.
For those over 3.5 it is necessary to purchase a certain number of days of stay, I think the minimum is 12.
Pay attention, if you have a trailer, it needs its own vignette.

We had asked in advance, so knew about the purchase options.
We just wanted to sort as much as possible before the trip, so chose to pay the shipping cost.
My original comment related to the unnecessary size of the package, when a simple registered letter would have sufficed.

Are you trying to draw parallels to huge packages?

Working in the parcel industry I can honestly say that while it is a waste of packaging it also means it wont get lost as easily, small envelopes when containing something important can fall through the various sorting procedures which they go through in multiple locations
