All change next to Frank's?

We stayed at Frank's Field last Monday night, and walking to the boardwalk on Tuesday morning we commented how good it was to see the Quality Hotel open for business again and looking busy.
Then we heard on Red FM this morning a caller saying the hotel was now under new ownership and had cancelled his wedding booking and all other commitments.
The conversation then seemed to suggest that future plans might relate to housing Ukrainian refugees?
Whilst fully sympathetic to the need to house families fleeing from conflict, Youghal has come through a few hard years of Covid, it'll be another knock-back for the town to lose the tourist trade from the hotel.

Hotel in Clonakilty did similar, all bookings cancelled as they are now going to accommodate Ukrainian refugees.
Two hotels close to me I’ve heard are the same, refugees arriving tomorrow.
I’m sure there are more around the country, I know for a fact two small hotels in Dublin City centre are accommodating refugees exclusively.

Two local hotels booked out and not even allowed a pint. Not Ukrainians as they are all black guests.

If you go to the entrance "no entry due to a private contract"

At €100 per bed per night and garenteed full accuracy with less service costs, there are not doing it out of the good of their heart.
As against home offers, where the government are talking of offering €400 a week per home for expenses.

I don't like to say it, but I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that this is going to cause increasing localised resentment down the line.

I think your right, and. You can't blame people, if arrangement they made are cancelled, there is another conversation going, there must be a million statics on sites around the country, each capeble of holding a family or more with a the services around, to me its a no brainer, for the owners and government, but what then, for all the families, who will have nowhere to go for their holliers.
Appearently a lot of pledge accommodation has been withdrawn, mainly because, of the uncertainty of who has to burden the running cost, for what could be a couple of years, and for holiday homes, not to have the use of them, plus insurance, and final repair costs if needed,???
