we had planned a wee excursion to get the van in full travelling mode-
portglenone marina seemed like a reasonable distance to get the van fully warmed up,
was a bit shocked to be told that the price per night is now £26 ?
carlingford has gone from £10 to £15!
Cranfield kilkeel is £35
is there a trend here?
seems like the prices are getting to be the same as "the caravan parks".

Lads,

I know its been said before but I personally dont think there is a campsite in Ireland worth over €30 a night,
Aires €10 Max €12 a night

As for the pub charging for parking in the yard if you are dining or having drinks, 🙄

The trend will soon ease if people stop using the robbers, .......but there is always eejits to pay the over the top price and than .....Aah sure that's the norm

Unfortunately the Aires in Portglenone never worked as an Aires should do,from the start is operated on a booking rota.
I had friends who turned up one night and even though there were spaces available they were not allowed in as the spaces had been allocated to someone else.

when we first stayed here , it was just a car park behind a pub, and we were made welcome.
its a bit sad that now with a nice marina and all the facilities , that they have decided to drive folk away.

cost to keep a boat at Portglenone

 ·

According to the council website it seems to cost £13.20 per night for a 6 metre boat!!
Something not quite right here.?
well that is possibly the cost for a boat---
but , it has been said that the council were "forced" to increase charges as they were perceived to be
charging so much less that caravan type sites!
So the cost seems correct for a boat ,but the confused thinking about motorhomes is going to be hard to change, when the big site owners have such a powerfull lobby.
