Height barriers installed to prevent access by larger vehicles to the beach car park/ golf club. Photo taken today.
This had to happen, and for once I do support it. I’ve seen Motorhome queued back up through the golf club, actually stopping play on the course as the road runs through it.
We are I’m afraid our own worst enemy at times. Abuse it, we loose it.

Used and abused is the best way to describe this, those that want everything for free will end up with nothing .
I like a good deal but also realise that nothing is free in this world.
I fully support this move and slap it up the people who have abused this and other similar locations.

Trouble is they will just move on to the next place and do the same thing. Some see it as a badge of honour to pay nothing but it means those that do pay to stay in campsites, aires, CLs etc can’t even visit a lot of places during the day in their motorhome due to height barriers. The is the way the North Coast of NI has gone. That is why we have been forced to bring the car with us to be able to visit anywhere. Used to not be a problem visiting beaches etc in the van but not now.

Was only a matter of time. Imagine having the arrogance to park on either side of that road and stopping the golfers from using the golf course? Not as if it was one or two either.

So now Dunfanaghy, now is your chance, install an AIRE, charge €10 per night and reap the rewards, how about it? 🤔

Parked up there a few times for about an hour or so for a walk on the beach but never stayed as it always was busy with day trippers.

That may be so Robert , but i also would bet that the golfers will also appreciate that when they now go for a game of golf they get to play it.

I'd have used them like the driving range, it's always good to have something to aim at. improves your game no end😁

First of all I would say I see absolutely no problem with anybody parking for free provided they find somewhere suitable that doesn't inconvenience anyone. The problem here is inconsiderate people not thinking of anyone but themselves. I suspect they are the same people who park their car in the disabled spaces at the supermarket. Any time I have been in Dunfanaghy I have parked behind Patsy Dans or on the pier. The locals seem to be welcoming of motorhomers provided you park responsibly. As Ally says the place is crying out for a good Aire.

Have just seen photos which where taken today of the car park across the golf course in dunfanaghy and there’s Motorhomes parked there so don’t know what’s going on are the barriers only open and closed part time 🤔
