Just browsing Done Deal as usual and notice the same vans advertised for months,
Same auld dull pics with bad light and one of a flipping tax disc 🙄 and thdn a massively overpriced asking price,
2 I noticed are still renewed since well before Christmas and another one since September as I sent a screen shot to a friend saying the seller was hoping for an eejit to ring,
One stated no more time wasters 🤔

What does that tell you ?

It tells me l, if there's a boom, there'll always be some **** jumping on the band wagon trying to make a quick buck without actually knowing what he's doing.

It amazes me the way a lot ads seem to have made very little effort, bedclothes around, untidy, not even swept, makes me think they aren’t serious sellers at all.

It amazes me when I see the main pic, the only one you see before deciding to click in to the ad, is a steering wheel, an odometer or a badly lit bathroom.

In the Motorhome world there are those who are very concious of making sure everything is done correctly ie service checks habitation checks and general maintainance, then there are those that could not care less.
I know of a guy who bought a new motorhome about 14 years ago,it has never had a habitation service and the engine oil has been changed about twice. He could not care less.

I've seen it here. The complete heaps of dung that sellers couldn't get rid of before, until the madness kicked in.

How some of them stay together is amazing. So ma y people have lost thousands as they didn't ask a professional to check it for damp, or even a mate with a moisture metre.

Cartel check!

 ·
Posted: 11.04.2022  ·  #14
When i was scouting around for a campervan I knew what my budget was etc and came upon a camper advertised on a popular site. I met with the seller in the car park of a local hotel and the vehicle he had on offer ticked all the boxes...42k mls, 2007, low profile 2/3 owners. It was very clean inside. I suggested that my bursar needed to see the van also so arranged to meet him the following day. in the meantime I did a Cartel check + additional UK check that night......camper had 11 owners in the UK and 243,000 actual miles on the clock but fair play had passed 9 MOTs in its lifetime. I got a phone call from the Cartel rep the following morning wondering if I had actually bought the van. She said it was the highest mileage discrepancy their company had witnessed since going into business. I forget exactly how much the Cartel check cost me, which is an indication of how lucky i was, but it's probably the best €25+ I ever spent!!! Buyer beware.

When I sold my Bailey it was 5 yrs old and the buyer employed Camper Medic to check it out, I had no issue as I was sure the van was 100% but it gave the buyer the confidence to part with the money and that he wasnt buying a load of rubish
