That sounds more like they are about to change their Flag Of Convenience for the whole fleet, I think ships can't start a journey on the heigh seas and finish on a different flag, they have to be dockside and empty,in order to change the flag they sail under.

Thank goodness it was P&O. My IF ship was cancelled and I had to book Stena for my return from France.Could only get a reclining seat initially but called at the port and got a cabin

They did the same as irish ferries rosslare /France route, only they sold off the ship and then foreign flagged the new ship and filled it with Yellow Pack crew. and P&O will do it down here when all the hullabaloo dies down.

A question I would have regarding the cheap Labour that they are supposedly bringing in to replace the sacked crews.
If the reported rate of pay is as little as £2 per hour for some of these people, how and where are these people going to live when not at work?
I will not use P&O while there is an alternative.

I was in the Merchant Navy in the 1970's, when Chinese crew's lived and stayed on their ships for up to 2 years - then flew back to their home destinations - don't know if this is still the case.

I suppose it's the equivalent of. On duty off duty on a ship. Paid for on duty but always there.

There is no way this organisation should get any support if there is an alternative available.
I will never sail with them while they uphold this present behaviour.

Well Norman, I fear, you nor I will ever use them again, as there is no foreseeable future where we, Either of us will have a Government who are prepared to Take on the Sheiks of the sea ( pirates ), we once had our own shipping line, but the poli-tic,s sold it off, including our national gas, fishing rights, postal service, medical services, which some, women of Ireland have had to pay dearly for, etc, etc, etc,

Will they be kicked out of the country,? NO.
Will they reduce their prices by Two Thirds,? NO.
(17.50 p/h old wage 5.50 p/h new wage )
Will they sail out of port empty,? NO.
Will people drive down the loading ramp,? YES OF COURSE they will.
will they do the same down here,? YES they will, because the Poli-TIC's in dail eireann are every bit as toothless b******s as they are in NI and the UK.
Will they buy a few ferries ,paint in the National Flag's ,crew them with the underused navy personnel, and kick the other ferry pirates out of our shipping lanes and territorial waters.? once again,NO..

Some very valid points there Martin , but my question to anyone who would dare to use their services under this present barbaric scheme ?
How would you like it if it were you or a member of your family who had been treated with instant dismissal?
I have said before and I will say again, if they continue with their present attitude I will never use their services again.

sub standard boat/crew but at a premium price. I wonder how long it would have been before there would have been a tragic accident, the sackings at least have brought something positive out of the whole debacle

At leat the orher pirates have got some new ships, although it still doesn't justify the price hikes, I was looking at some emails today and notices my Ferry booking for France, for September 2019. M/H + 2bed cabin with window return €438.00. They very nearly want that for the cabins now.
