Why?
Why did you decide to buy a Motorhome? What reason?

Me?…… well, the voices told me to do it !

What’s your reason?

Bucketlist item and we used to own a mobile home which children grew out of and then used as a drinking den in west Clare for Willie Clancy Festival. Also the desire to see other places on our terms. I didn't realise there would be so many things that need minding with a motorhome but now it feels I'm playing with my dinkies again! Woohoooooo :D (Putin has taken a little shine off things these days though) o.O

Went to Canada for a holiday and out relatives there took us on a tour of Alberta and the Rockies in a large RV. We got the bug so came home and bought a 1.6 T2 Volkswagen. That was 40 years ago

Was in the VW scene in my 20's and ended up buying a 1971 VW camper van....That got me hooked... but also having dogs is another reason.

In a nut shell, Music Festivals, real music festivals not that Irish Country muck 🤔🤣
After 8 years at Glastonbury Festival in a tent, an upgrade was required!

first vehicle of any sort I ever bought when still a student, a 1972 VW in 1993. I have owned a moho/camper of some variety almost ever since...cant imagine not having one. Kids have grown up in them touring europe...so itching to get back to the sun after c19 forced hiatus in 2021....

This is a question you should have asked me thirty-five years ago.
The answer is that I don't know.

After much more than 300,000 kilometers of journeys to everywhere in Europe, also given the prices reached by used vans, I am close to the opposite question why the hell shouldn't I sell it ?

Max

p..s The trip to Ireland planned for next summer will probably be my last in a motorhome.

I work at boat engines and had my own norman 22 on the erne, same old distance up and down for 7 years costing a fortune in 2 stroke fuel, so being a chap who loves building things I went out and bought a ex lib bus and bingo I love it as I can go where and when I like from home at a third of the fuel used.

I’m surprised you didn’t put a Skoda engine in the boat 😳

We always said we'd get one when we were a bit older that what we are now. Then we realised our little pooch won't be with us by then so what are we waiting for.

Made redundant in 2000 after 37 years so used the money to upgrade from the Caravan. Bought a kontiki in Belfast on ebay. Postage a bit steep so drove it back to Dungannon. Pulled of at the Moria roundabout just to phone the wife and tell her I'd never tow a caravan again 🙂🙂

Natural order of things progressing from tents to mobile homes to bikes and boat and finally motorhome.
Probably have a trike left to finish the list.

After a serious operation I needed to wind down a bit so we got a large caravan which we loved but hated having to be off site at a certain time, never mind cant arrive after a certain time as well, always dreamed of one and got the first one at a very decent price and that was it, the caravan was sold and taken to France never to be seen again

I got fed up of taking down tents with the rain running down the sheuch of my a--- then having to replace the tent because I forgot to dry it out when I got home. Always had a goo for a vw camper so I hired one for a week and I've never looked back. Oh the joy on the wet morning you have to head home of just getting in to the driver's seat and turning the key ( I have a 90% hit rate for rain on my last day ). I am a man of simple pleasures.

Lucky you Irish guys always wet.
It hasn't rained here for more than two months.
The lakes are lowered and the rivers are almost dry.
But global warming is just some scientist's terrorism, the Americans say.

Been on several holidays with daughter (6 yrs old now) and each time we flew anywhere ended up in hospital with throat infections etc.

Last summer rented a Motorhome for a week and loved it, so much so we ordered one last October.

Still waiting on it, hopefully by July should agave it.

Looking forward to getting it :)

Rode motorbike to Achill May Holiday weekend 2018 (was frozen). Saw so many motor homes, entering / exiting Mayo, it got my attention. We had been thinking of a holiday cottage / apartment in Mayo …. And then I realised for half the price … I could bring the ‘house’ anywhere. Still infants at this, but love it. Writing from Westport Quay. And so much great advice and help here … makes a huge difference. Sometimes I wonder if there is any real need for a visit at all.

Went to New Zealand for a month and rented a Maui RV for 2 weeks and we loved it....and a year or two later we ended up buying a Rapido 7096f.
We have toured Scotland, England, Wales, France and Belgium and last year Ireland. Been out a couple times this year and off again next week. Yippee !
