Day 1

Well after testing positive for Covid I am now sitting here looking out at the motorhome, how in the name of the wee donkey did anyone work from home for two years, I’m going out of my mind after a few hours.

Some people seem to adjust to it quite well John, but like yourself i have to get out of the house to keep my sanity.
Hope you get back on the road soon.

That's a dose!

I've been working from home since this kicked off. My coping mechanisms are"
  • Decent IT setup with proper headset, multiple screens, high speed broadband
  • Set up your home office in the spare room. When finished for the day, walk away and close the door
  • Start and finish at your normal times.
  • Take your breaks at the normal times
  • Figure out at the end of the day two jobs to do in the following morning
  • Set up regular calls to check in with the rest of the gang at work. This can be daily or even multiple times if needed.

If you are getting frustrated and motivation is low, walk away. I often log off for an hour and have lunch, go for a walk, etc

Edit, for the IT hardware, your employer should provide them.

Edit #2 the worst thing to do is to set up on the kitchen table. You want to use the spare room as when you finish and close the door, theres a disconnect. I also go for a short walk as soon as I finish so that when I come home from the post work walk, I'm home after a day's work. Yes it's all in the head

Think of it as a test run for retirement to Spain,if you can't do it , you can't retire 😁

Staying in the house would make me insane too. First light, out the door.
Stick it out John, it’ll pass. Health most important thing.

Motivation for work is not the issue, as I have been able to work from home no matter where that is for years, its the fact that I am not allowed out. That and keeping SWMBO out of the study constantly asking if I want anything

As for work providing the IT I would have to sign off my own purchase orders lol

If I had contracted this bugger in Spain I would not be grumpy, I would be out in the fresh air getting trees trimmed avoiding cutting off fingers and enjoying 20 odd deg of sunshine

No pains in the butt lol, its like a bad cold with sore throat, aches, dry cough but not constant, run hot and cold. I have had to sit in the study trying to do work with a pair of sunglasses on as the sun, when its out, reflecting off the white side of the motorhome is blinding and not helping the headache.

I am still as active as usual, i.e. not exercising as usual lol

Strange thing is my daughter who is a refuser for the vaccination travels with me and works in the same office as me, has not contracted it!!

My son was at a party in England before Xmas. Three people at the party had no vaccine. Everyone got covid except the three that didn't have the vaccine.

I give up trying to work it all out.
