Long time away and back now.
I'm looking at a Motor home with the above engine. Is there anything I should know about these engines before buying?? Are they a good engine? The van is a Rapido 990M.
I'm 70 years old now and this will be my first camper.

A great motorhome on a great chassis and engine. In that vintage look our for water ingress issues over the front wheel arches and the rear corners.
Also check the floor around the rear wheels.
I've know of similar models with issues in those areas
Having said that Rapido are a lovely marque. I've mine from new in 2005 and it continues to serve me well.

I have a Pilote 2009, with 90k on it, very similar model, on the same chassis, I've had to replace the Starter, (solonide problem) and there was an issue with the oil level sender given a miss reading, if you hit a bump when the oil is hot,
Other than that it great to drive, a bit thursty, if you have a heavy foot.

Did the deal yesterday, I could not find a fault with the van. I was thinking it could be heavy on the diesel but you have to pay for your luxury. I bought a Rapido 990M.
Sold the wifes liver and kidneys to buy it, she is starting to look a little bit yellow today.
