Motorhome delays

Just found out that due to production delays my MH due date has now been pushed out from march/April to July.

Dealer reckons the chassis is being manufactured in may, hence the delay.

A bit gutted at this, as can’t wait to get it.

Also was really hoping to have it for the school holidays

Just be glad you didn't order an Octavia. There was a fire meaning all deliveries were pushed back 4 months. They are now 10 months waiting. The hybrid is Q3 2023 delivery.

I just found out after ordering one for July delivery.....

Haven’t figured out how to quote and reply to specific comments :)

That’s a long wait for an Octavia

Just depressing having to wait longer for it. I’m on standby to book the flights etc when I get the date :)

Will obviously leave to last minute to book everything.

It you think about the delay all the time, the wait will be worse. I know it's a bit like "don't think of an elephant" when I say don't think of the delay.

It will be well worth of it. Hang on in there and keep planning the first trip.

Pickup is in Belgium so looking at drive to Calais and then channel tunnel, drive to Holyhead and ferry.

Haven’t looked at pricing yet but as far as I know that will be the quickest route.

Don't be too concerned about the quickest, the boat from France may be at most an hour longer, but you can wander around and get something to eat, also consider you will have an empty van, so if you want to look for all your stuff, bedding, towels, utensils, outside chairs, tables, bbq, etc. the big supermarkets, and the likes of Decathlon would be well worth some research before you go. And if you've been in France before, you'll know there are lots of things for the house you can only get there, and of course the wine. I would consider a full day shopping. ( the supermarket took me two hours and that was with a list, and I know my way areoud)

I would consider a France > Ireland direct route. No import/export customs hastle if you are bring any stuff home in the empty van.

That is worth thinking about, I don't know what the deal is crossing trough the UK.have you looked into it?
Actual driving time on the road is nearly the same, about 7hours. it is at most 100km longer going to Cherbourg, depending if you go tolls or not and I would suggest an overnight in France anyway, I would presume the tunnel and ferry costs would be more then a one way from Cherbourg,
There is another thing spend a couple of hours finding out how everything works and where it's located, then unless you already know, go trough it yourself, on your own before you go on the road,
When I went to collect my van my travelling kit was, sleeping bag, coffee pot, mug, bowl, knife, fork and spoon. And the first thing I bought was a pillow, and a corkscrew 😁
