There has been a shortage of overnight parking / camping options for a few years now, normally restricted to just the school holidays and public holidays. The periods that there is more demand than supply has increased significantly.
One factor is the reduction of isolated tucked away spots that were either little used or used by a small number of MHs but these secrets became common knowledge which led to overuse and councils, land owners etc restricting vehicle access.
Another factor is touring sites moving more and more to seasonal pitches and statics. A seasonal pitch may only be used for a few weeks and weekends over the 3/4 month duration of the pitch hire but effectively prevents touring units using the pitch even when it’s in occupied.
There has been an increase in privately owned sites/Aires/fields but not enough to keep up with the huge increase in MHs and caravan ownership.
Spain is getting that way too in the winter.

Good problem if you own a campsite not so good if you own a MH.

Good find John @panda. Interesting they mentioned the problems at Keem. No doubt that has all been fixed now for the coming season 😏

I doubt it, the road is just too small , although it looks like stacations are on the way out so less traffic

It Is especially when you have people parking cars on the side of the road, effectively turning it into a one way road. It wasn't campervans causing the problem, the last time I was there, it was car's, they had parked all the way back to the treatment plant 2km, when the Gards closed the road.
