Yes Jon the magnets would be really useful on a GRP roof. I think I’ll wait and see

No much good in an A class , although it might attach to the wing mirrors on some vans

Maybe it will only be for cars.
I can't see them working on trucks with GRP wind deflectors on their roofs, vehicles like buses with aluminium roof's and of course A-Class motorhomes.
Not to mention GRP, Carbon Fibre and Aluminium bodied vehicles.

They are for sale everywhere in Spain at the minute, I thought it was just a new idea as well as triangles

Bought one for €10 in Carrefour this morning, I'll test it tomorrow to see if anyone turns up.

So I see from that article, they send a GPS enabled SOS signal to the Spanish authorities. I wonder if the protocol could be adopted in other countries? Otherwise that will only work in Spain, and you might be buying different beacons for different territories.

GPS only becomes mandatory from 2026 (I think), so triangle seems OK until then.

Think Lads/lassies :-/
In my case, all I would have to do is open the main skylight and stick the thing on top of the Sat dish. Have a look at your roof is there any metal up there, within reach of a skylight, could you rivet / bolt small bit plate, its magnetic, so wind the skylight partially open, then hold a piece of metal, up to the inside of a skylight while positioning the Beacon over it on the outside, then close it down,

I couldn’t possibly comment as I’ve never met the man but I do know he lives in the sunny south east 😂

These popped up on a Spanish Motorhoming Group.
They're DGT compliant for Spain, come in a pair and very well priced, available on Amazon.
I've just bought a pair. Can't be wrong at around €20.

How do you stick them to an aluminum or GRP roof 3m off the ground? :-/ and would the 'patented automatic magnetic activation' work if blu tack was to be used?

It would Colin if the blue tack was put on a small metal disk (80mm magnet base) and the unit placed on that.

I folded up a little 18 gauge metal plate in the workshop that clips on top of the skylight window frame. The unit sits on that.
Some of the Spanish have bonded a small plate on the roof, just on the perimeter of the skylight and can mount it to that from the inside. If making one, remember magnetism doesn't work on 'normal' stainless steel !

The NCT centers have them for sale, must see if I can get the price.

I had a look, while taping up a broken skylight, I can reach the Satellite dish from the big front one.

I wonder if I would get away with my flashing red ones, they have about six different flashing sequences. I could always try and convince them that they were a very bright orange.😁

Not sure if they all work the same to be honest.
The Spanish DGT approved ones use the e-sim function to alert the authorities.
I bought the ones from Amazon which have the approval by the Spanish DGT as I will only ever use it in Spain.

No I don’t think so, I’m going to ask Amanda to rotate every 3 seconds if we have a breakdown.
