Cost us £283 for two dogs. Rabies jab and passport each.

So we could leave a place with no rabies to go to a place with no rabies.

Your vet takes care of everything.

If you get a NI dog passport then I dont think anything else is required unless you are going to GB

We took our two to Spain summer 2021 and one had a passport/chip/rabies etc from previous year the other was new. I think all in it was around £90 plus the worming thing before coming back. To convert the original UK pet passport it had a sticker put on it to say NI/UK pet passport or something like that. Nothing was checked on the way out but were checked in France and Dublin on the way back by ferry. No issues at either port the Dept Agriculture/Customs actually took ours to show a fellow northerner who hadnt got the passport changed with a sticker as to what it should look like, still didnt impound his pets and said its not what they are there for especially over a sticker.

After a few scare stories in the tabloid press last year about the possibility of pets being seized I contacted a few MLAs about this. Our dog suffers from allergies and the vet strongly advised against giving him the rabies jab. I was surprised to learn that since the EU introduced pet passports they have been required for travel across the border which we have all obviously ignored for years. Apparently the UK and Ireland had just ignored EU law as both islands were rabies free. We left the dog with family for a few trips South but have started taking him again having been assured that while random checks will be made on sea crossings between GB and Ireland nobody will be stopping us at the border to check our dog.
