Hi all a newbie here,
I'm looking at campers at the moment 5-6 berth but it's the mechanical side I'm looking for advice on first like which is most reliable engine, gear box and chassis wise? I've never owned one or even drove one but something I always wanted so with the mental prices they are making I don't want to get a unreliable one. So all advice welcome

There is no one size fits all when it comes to camper vans, motorhomes.
As for best engines and gearboxes that comes down to mileage, servicing and care taken by previous owners.
Never purchase without having it inspected by someone with previous knowledge and inspection of previous service receipts.

Most vans and manufacturers are pretty reliable these days. Some engines in certain years have problems, some vans suffer more with rust than others. They all have their niggles.

Best bet is to see what you like in the habitation layout then come back here and tell us what chassis it is, only then can we try and advise.

Good luck in your search!

I have the Roller team 707. It has 6 seatbelts but 7 berths. Drop down bed isn’t to everyone’s liking. It sits on a Fiat Ducati chassis. It was a great price 6 years ago. Not sure what it would cost today. Now that our boys are older and very rarely travel with us, it has more than enough space for 2 plus a dog.
