Is there a drive over drain separate to this? The sluice on my grey tank is dead centre behind the rear axel, I'd need a rollaway tank to empty into that.

No driveover drain. Would need a hose in the lower part of the unit

It's good that they're trying but it's another case of something being designed without regard for user needs, my van is in no way unique.

Bryan, I glued on a threaded end with a cap, from the plumbing shop and then a screw on tail piece with a meter of hose to direct the outflow, if the little cap on the side is for that I would be able to use it,or probably in over the top as it is about 300mm of the ground. at the sane time I made the fittings in such a way as to be able to slot the outlet from the cassette and use it to empty if I cannot get close to a drain.I keep the cap on in case of any drips.

This is a great improvement to the Aire . The area would not suit a driveover drain as it is in a public carpark and unfortunately some motorhomers would not keep the area clean.

A super unit for emptying the cassette. But no facility for emptying grey water tanks
Why o why don't those good intentioned people responsible for providing motorhome service bays do a little research into how a proper service bay works. The Hub in Graiguenamanagh is a case in point.

Leo that is a great we Aires and they are trying, Bryan just as explained there is not a lot of room for a drive over drain but again as Martin has explained a little bit of hose helps in situations like this.
I bought one of those waste hoses as I can only let out grey waste from drivers side and it has solved a lot of problems for me.

What do you mean by 'some motorhomers would not keep the area clean. Cobh is within a public car park and is always spotless

In fairness Buncrana is a very restricted area and this is a welcome improvement. Maybe a drive over drain would be feasible in the area outside the actual aire.

The reason I changed my van outlet was because I came across some in Rural France, that was just a 100mm pipe sticking out of a wall about 300m off the ground with a tap about a meter above aimed into the pipe trough a circle that did not allow a cassette be shoved up onto it.

I welcome all facilities, anything is an improvement over nothing. I looked at the device in the picture and someone has gone to a huge amount of effort to put it in place but they've clearly rushed to solution without considering the user needs. From experience, taking the time to understand user needs gets you to a better solution at a lower cost.

Good point, a services bay need not to be in the same place as the parking. In Europe it is sometimes located elsewhere in the town.

There is a 100mm pipe with the lid at the side of of the unit at the bottom . See the 3rd photo. A hose from your tank would work.

That's all very good. However, very few motorhomes are equipped with a hose for the grey water, probably because a drive over drain designed to cater for all the various discharge point layouts is the common standard throughout Europe.
My mh came with such a hose which has never been required in 16 years of touring.

Good to see that they've made efforts to provide more services.

I've talked to the council at length about provision of services, the expenditure they go to and the services they provide.
I've offered collectively to provide a non-professional , free, and unbiased consultation from an end users prospective, what a motorhome user requires and what would be best suited to a particular sites needs & the savings that could be made from not over complicating things.
So far it has fell on deaf ears and I believe they do not want outside help regarding their decisions as it makes them seem unfit to design the area required, blatantly obvious from the case depicted.
This once again shows the lack of knowledge, the inherent design failures and their complete and utter lack of understanding when it comes to provision of the amenity required & their absolute adherence to not asking the people who can provide the knowledge for their views.
Sadly it seems to be commonplace in any public sector role.

Spot on jjf.
Dungarvan is a case in point. The new excellent parking area has also a services bay. Despite having very close contacts with the powers that be those given responsibility for the design of the fresh water supply and cassette emptying point have made a right dogs dinner of it.
The tap is a regular push tap without threads for a connection and the lid of the cassette emptying point will not stay open

Looks great with the tap pulling off the wall, and we all know what is going to be shoved up on to the tap.
My discription would be worse than useless, leaving themselves open to contaminating the public water supply.
Ecoli going back up trough the tap into the Water source.
I'd be interested to know where did the unit in Buncrana come from, who supplied it, and what was its original use. (caravan park?)
Is there a fresh water supply in the area?

In fairness, the tap with the red cord used to hold the lid of the cassette emptying point open is there for rinsing the cassette.
The one with the conglomoration of cable ties is separate one on other side of the unit for refilling drinking water tanks.

Are some people trying to reinvent the wheel just keep it simple there are some very good examples all over the country you don't have to go to far to see them

There are 3 pillars at the parking area with EHU and water.

It would appear that a drive over drain is installed; see Pic.1, Not sure if that’s a storm drain or a grey discharge drain.
Haven’t been, just other pictures I found of the installation.

Looking at the pictures, it looks like the connection on the side might be connecting the discharge hose from the macerator of an RV sewage holding tank.
I wonder was it sourced from a supplier of American RV stuff.
