The clothes peg Kid strikes again!

So...separate topic to E-control! On our spin today we stopped to get coffee and I noticed safety/drain valve was doing its stuff i.e. dumping in the carpark. I pulled up knob as per manual etc. This is the second time this has happened in as many days and I suspect it starts when the vehicle is parked. I've been monitoring and checking temp etc when she's parked at home and all was intact. So perhaps this explains the clothes peg and if so does this mean the unit is faulty? When I considered the matter I thought there must be no way of checking if I'm leaking while driving but then the light bulb went on...of course I can check water level before and after(clever again!) So my Qs are...1) does the clothes peg mean unit is faulty, needing maintenance or repair 2) What is involved in this and who would do it? I assume if I continue to monitor the weather and the water levels I could manage it as is but it would be nice to have it working as it should too. Filling water tank and priming might become a bit of a chore! Thanks in advance to anyone who shares/suggests/sympathises in any way! <_<

A couple of things to consider before assuming the valve is faulty.
The valve is held closed by being powered. It's possible that there is a fault in the circuit or poor connection which only shows up when driving (vibration) . If the power drops only for a second the valve will open and needs to be reset manually.
The power supply should be from the leisure battery, I don't know what the minimum voltage required is for the valve to hold closed, is the battery OK.
When on ehu and when the engine is running the charge current going to the leisure battery will provide the voltage necessary to hold the valve closed.

In really cold weather, to fill my last van I had to trick it a bit. I turned the heating on very low as it was filling, or it just ran out. Being careful there was enough in there not the blow the boiler!

So maybe try hot water or heating on low

So the leisure batteries are new and only fitted recently. Another puzzle...to turn on the heater with Trumatic C don't you have to heat water also? Control doesn't give option to heat air only, just water only (Summer setting) and water + air (winter setting) so therefore if you must heat the vehicle before refilling/priming system surely there is a risk of damage to boiler if it is without/dry of water? Questions Questions Questions!! :-/

Yes, it can be a PITA. But if the heat isn't on and it's cold enough the water will dump. So you need to work around it, clothes peg whilst filling and then put heat on and remove peg.

Or as J did, hold it up to get a lot of water in the boiler then put heat on.

I used to have to use a hair dryer to put heat around the frost valve to trick it into thinking the van was warm while it filled with water and the heater did its stuff

Clothes peg while driving and/or using in Spring/Summer?

If the part is faulty or current is low doesn't it make sense to use the clothes peg while driving to prevent water dump and during warmer weather? Monitor is the key I guess

It does. As long as you remember it's there.
