I have been led to believe that it's cheaper to use Renault trucks for servicing as its cheaper than Renault cars! Not sure how true that is though. I will be finding out in a month or two as I need to get the belts changed as they are coming up on five years old, and don't fancy the cost of an engine build if they fail.

Fat Controller I'm not aware of that and I was unaware that there's a Renault Truck Centre here. I really can't complain about Shelbourne Motors in Portadown. I've found them efficient and very good in every way and I can't speak too highly of them. Needles to say I don't have any connection with the firm but I believe when I get good service to tell others about it.

There is a Renault trucks centre at Mallusk.
I spoke to them on the phone one time and they said they would take a Motorhome in for service or work.

Ah Mark that's just up the road from me about 4 miles just. Must have a nosey and find out although I'm fully satisfied with Shelbourne Motors.

Mark, i should think Renault Trucks Mallusk would take in your motorhome for service, they dont seem to do much else?

Jack, nice set up there, you have the right idea, if you need a transporter lorry to lift the yoke in France, you can take ours anytime

Thanks JAG147 for the very generous offer. At the moment I'm looking at flying Easyjet to Geneva then getting a connecting flight to Bordeaux and then driving up to Cherbourg and taking Celtic Ferries to Rosslare and driving home. Not sure if I'm mad or crazy or maybe both but that seems to the cheapest at the moment.

I can give you a number of guys in the north who would bring it home for you , but I must admit if it were myself, I would be tempted to do the run myself.

Anyway, if you want the lorry 7.5t iveco, you are very welcome to it

Is the new Euro5 Fiat not as good as or better than the Reanult on MPG? I know I had a euro4 and it was very good.

Andy,

I had an Ace Milano 2007, I think that was euro4? - I only had it a few weeks as it was sent back to dealers due to a manufacturers fault which caused water ingress. But we were getting over 30mpg, but as I say I didn't have it long term so those figures could be wrong overall perhaps. I get more than 22.6 on my 2003 Fiat, I reckon probably about 25-26mpg.

Ally my last van was a euro 4 and I find the Renault much better on fuel. Towing the trailer in France last year with the 2CV in it I averaged 20.4 mpg which I think is very good. Renault is a very sturdy van.

Ally don't get too excited as the car only ways about 550 kilos. The 2CV is very light. The trailer is actually heavier but it tows like a dream.
