I'm thinking of getting a set of these to keep in the Motorhome. https://www.ebay.ie/itm/224576…Sw-tZgK~d9
I have no intention of driving in the snow, ever, done enough of that. I limit my snow journeys to walking around the side of the house to get more logs for the fire. I will be travelling through some areas of France next year where they are compulsory so I'll need something to comply with the law. Any thoughts or experience of similar or cheaper/dearer sets of socks/chains ?

I've carried/used show chains for years. The only place I've used them are in the Alps and only the odd time when moving on smaller roads between resorts or getting out of a snow bound campsite. I have never seen anyone fit the snow sock and don't know how you would do it with snow on the ground. Chains are a pain to fit but can be done in the snow. In France at least they keep the main roads very clear.

That seems a good price to me, especially as you'll be doing your best not to use them, and they're lite
