I wasn't optimistic before the game but boy was I wrong. The performance was even better than the result. Ireland dominated from start to finish, New Zealand are an exceptional team and made the most of their few chances but they were outclassed from start to finish. There's a summer tour to New Zealand next summer, we'll get to see if we can kick on from this.

I went with my 8 year old son who is a devout Cork hurler and he loved the match as much as I did. There was not a single point in the match where the crowd thought that New Zealand would win, even going in at half time. My son now wants to join the local rugby club which made his dad proud.

An interesting statistic, New Zealand made 235 tackles in the match to make 8th position in all time most tackles in a match. 5 of the rest of the list are also teams who played Ireland.
