Facebook, eh. It's there for those that want to use it and there for those that want to abuse it. Personally I have nothing against it as such, I just love the bandwagon jumpers like comedians vilifying for not much more than self publicity.

Its an absolute sh*t show of data theft, abuse and hate.
1. Don't use the app, use a Web browser.
2. Use a container inside a browser on a pc.
3. Use one browser for Facebook and another browser for everything else.
Best of all, if you don't need it for business (very few businesses actually do) don't use it at all. Life is so much better without it.
When something is free YOU are the product. Very true indeed. You have to hand it to companies like Fackbook, Google, Twitter Instagram etc etc. The clever technicques used to manipulate and control how we think and behave are carefully crafted and developed. If of course you let them. That's what I admire, from a technical perspective anyway. Like anything it's down to educating yourself and making the choices. Personally I stay away from it all, as I tend to have an addictive personality for one! I found 'The Social Dilemma' to be an insightful watch as to how these companies operate. Trying to educate the kids is tough but I'll keep at it..
Our oil delivery guy was giving out about words he'd had with his teen son.
Rather than accept his dad's explanation about something, the lad said he'd Google it.
Dad replied in exasperation..."Who do you think Google is made up of? It's just other dads answering your question instead!!!"
Slamming social media on one hand and posting on it on the other hand is a bit like telling your neighbours to be careful of burglars, yet leaving your front door open.

Same, I keep at it, despite the negative responses.

No, not a chance it'll be just like Windscale , or Sellafield, or The Thorp nuclear plant, now just referred to as the nuclear plant in Cumbria.
People are so stupid, all you have to do is keep changing the name.

Absolutely not. I take extreme precautions on social media and only have an account again due to MHC. As I posted above.
You will not find my personal account more than 12 months old for instance. Whereas foolish users and non tech experts have years and years and years of personal data on there.
This is the problem with users of the Internet, they think they know how it works. That's like me pretending to know how to take someone's tonsils out because I've had mine removed.
Or a better example, being able to fix the electronics in my TV because I can use one.
Yes I think it is, most definitely in its current guise. Every government is attacking it, every sensible tech expert is doing the same and quite rightly so. It can't keep up with that sort of pressure. It's a vile vile business model.

So as suspected, they sort of changed their name. "Meta"
Although the Facebook platform is still called Facebook.
Hopefully bum clinching time, many have tried before at the "Meta verse" maybe Meta will do it and that surly will be the end of the (rest of) Internet. Let's hope not, it goes against everything Sir Tim Berners Lee invented it for.
While not the largest company in the world in terms of online presence its a start when businesses are shutting their social media accounts for the well being of their customers

Thinking back just 25 years, yes only 25 years, didn't the world of business and social interaction do very well without all the current social media sh1te.
We met in real life for pints and other social activities and met new friends, real physical friends.
We went shopping along the high street and physically checked out the quality of merchandise before we decided whether to buy or not.
If you wanted to slag someone off you did it in front of a real live person and took the consequences, you couldn't hide anonymously behind a keyboard.

Ironically, we all read baguette's post then tapped our keyboards to show we agreed!
