Hi Guys

Just looking for your opinions on a random topic.
With Governments trying to play ball with Climate change and as part of the process getting rid of Diesel vehicles by 2030.
Whats peoples thinking? Will our Diesel MHs be illegal/obsolete in 9 years time or will these new regulations apply mainly to cars and light vehicles.
Personally im torn on this. I understand what we are trying to achieve for our planet but would hate to see our beloved Diesel MHs become extinct

If 5% (1:20) go EV the grid collapses. The grid is running above 85% capacity and sometimes as high as 99% capacity with power shutdowns to keep it functional at the moment, this is set to increase. It’ll take massive investment and many many years to get an infrastructure capable of being anywhere near being EV supportable and an all electric sustainable lifestyle is far off.

Government pushing EV / green agenda to get votes, not listening to the concerns of the technical experts as they care only about getting their rotten filthy greedy snouts in the trough at the next election……short term memory syndrome is a politicians saviour! …. And a 100K + pension when they leave office, why should they worry?

Couple that to the push on electric hungry ground/air pumps on new housing and we’re lining up the ducks very nicely for a crisis….. it’s beginning to happen already. Nuclear is the only option if they’re going down that route, and that ain’t happening.

Diesel technology can be made much more efficient (virtually zero emissions) LPG will make a comeback……
I wouldn’t get too concerned yet about your diesels, there going to be around for a long time.

Looking at the big picture, who is the biggest emitter, the tourist covering 5 or 10k miles a year in a motorhome and taking the ferry for foreign trips or the one who flies to Spain/Portugal/Greece or further 3 or 4 times a year?

This is going on over our heads, and out poli-tic's think 3 million electric cars are going to make a difference, about as much as a thistle tone in a haystack, you have to look at how much of your electricity bill goes to line their pockets, with unvouched expenses.

I remember a bit of research published by the Caravan Club now the Caravan & Motorhome Club a while back. The research demonstrated that a family of four towing a caravan from the UK to the South of France had a lesser carbon footprint than the same family traveling there by plane. I can't remember the actual number though.

Also, with our solar panels and our meager use of resources like water and electricity when parked up, compared to what would be used if we stayed in a hotel, using a motorhome for holidays must be the greenest of all options.

Well my reading into 2030 was that they stop manufacturing new ones then, but the old ones will still be on the road

There is a simple formula for living.

When you have to much of something, find a use for it. (electricity)
But don't try to use something you haven't enough of, because you will definitely run out, and then have nothing,

This can be applied to everything in this world.

We'll, unless there's a motorhome that can get 600km to 800km out of a single charge when loaded AND there's chargers at every Aires, I won't be buying an EV motorhome. My plan is to order a new diesel one in 2028 and drive on. They'll still be selling diesel for trucks etc.

It will be biomethane first for heavy vehicles and eventually hydrogen.

I wonder how many of the hydrogen vehicles will make it to the classic stage? Probably the scrap yard will appear first.😞

We are continually being persuaded to go green, ie electric.
What happens when we are all consuming electric and the demand outstrips supply?

In as far back as, at least the fifth century B.C., the knew to put the Horse in front of the Cart.
Isn't it rediculas to think that in the this time, you need a Masters degrees, to lick up to an arse higher than yours. They still don't know where the horse should go.

We are all small pawns in a big game.
Government have been warned for some time not to push the EV and Electric heating systems, but they adopt the ostrich attitude.

I just sold my run around Skoda bought for £300 two years ago for the same money as I paid for it. Bought a Hyundai i30 10 yr old for £750. Drive till it dies springs to mind.
Can’t imagine having an electric thing!
