Hi, The ressistor in the two speed blower switch has failed; does anyone know a "short cut" to replace this item without having to take the whole dashboard out to get at the failed item?

Many Thanks Dave.

Hi, Many thanks for the quick reply and the pictures. the heater matrix in the van is one big sealed unit and the whole dashboard and heater matrix would have to be removed from the van; added to this the engine is in the cab so access is difficult. I had thought of cutting an access panel at the rear of the motor housing just where the ressistor lives [ I can buy a ressistor from Mercedes for £10.00] as the van is 33 years old they did not use handy clips. The Mercedes labour charges for the job would be what I paid for the van!

Thank you for the intrest, Dave.

I was a bit daunted about taking the dash out of our camper too until I found a GMC van enthusiast forum. The lads there gave me a step by step on how to remove the dash. Knowing where the ellusive screws were hiding is the biggest hurdle. In all honesty I had the dash out in about 30 minutes and it wasn't as big an ordeal as I was expecting. And in all truth, what took most of the time was taking photos of everything. Every screw, clip and connector. I wanted to make sure I could put the darn thing back together when the time comes!!

Is there a Mercedes 207D van enthusiasts forum where the experts there could give you a "step by step"?

If you decide to do the repair yourself, consider doing a photo journal and posting it here on MHcraic.

Someone may find it useful in future!!
