Timmy O'Sullivan is currently going through a Planning Application to retain the development of the 'Aire' he has provided.
He has lots of support from local people including Glenbeigh Community Council.
The closing date for the planning department to receive submissions of support is 23/08/2021.
Submissions to support Timmy's application Reference Number 21/819 should be sent to:
Planning Department
Kerry County Council
County Buildings
Rathass
Tralee
Co. Kerry
V92 H7VT
Submissions should be accompanied by the €20 fee.

Colin, would it help if you put a sunmission in representing MHCC Members ( 91 ) and from MCINI.
you have all our names and if someone does'nt want to be included they can say so.
because they certainly don't deserve to get over €2000.00 for not reading 100 or so submissions.?

How is the money paid Cheque or draft.is there a specific format.
Maybe @JJF or @eirebus as noted officers of the club could do it on our behalf as the other pair are away on their Jollies.
As you representing your own club and Ally is away, and has given permission, an ordinary member can do it on behalf of MCINI.

Can this Aire be taken off the app please.

I attempted to find it on Friday and couldn't locate it. No signs. Absolute nightmare driver over the mountain in a narrow single track on a very steep incline with zero room for maneuver.

Found out later on that Kerry Co Co are treating it as an unauthorised development and issued an enforcement notice as per Radio Kerry so I'm presuming any direction signs have been removed,

I do not use the word "nightmare" lightly regarding the road over that mountain.

Sorry that you had difficulties. When I visited it I didn't encounter any real problem but I agree it is a bit tight although not any tighter than access to some of the Caravan & Motorhome Club. CL's I've used in GB.

My concern is for the safety and welfare for any motorhome owner who cannot find the facility because signs have been removed. The road past where the site could be located is probably the most demanding and precarious road I have ever driven in a motorhome. I met 2 cars coming towards me, luckily they found somewhere to pull in on the steepest section and then met a french motorhome luckily on a flatter section where much reversing was done to facilitate passing.

I am all for new facilities but if it cannot be found or has ceased trading it, in my opinion, should be removed until the position has been resolved.

I am not a woosey driver. I have driven HGV's extensively and have undergone extensive and lenghty driver training so I consider myself to be a very confident driver.

Typical of this forum. I wonder why I left it the last time.

Eamon, I am sure no one is doubting the difficulty you experienced or your driving credentials. I take it you took the high road instead of the low road? If there is no sign where the road forks, there ought to be, so people should be made aware.

My mother took the high road once when we were kids in the back. We were never so quiet as we were in that moment!

Eamonn, I suspect you went to the location over what's locally called Mountain Stage. That's one horrid road to drive. If you went from Rossbeigh beach carpark, the narrow section is only a few hundred yards long on a dead straight piece with two pull-ins.

I don't know how well you know the area but if you did, you would know not to take Mountain Stage but to go from Rossbeigh. If coming from Cahersiveen side, Google Maps and most car sat navs would take you over Mountain Stage. Camper sat navs dont take you over Mountain Stage (I tried it with Garmin and Pioneer camper satnavs).

Never blindly trust Google maps and car sat navs for directions. For example, going from Sneem to Fossa (outside Killarney), Google maps would bring you over the Gap of Dunloe!

I would add that we all only found out the plannjng issue on the 14th Saturday.
Your second post does if fact warn other motorhomers of the problems of getting to the site accross the mountain.
But your first one in all fairness does not. it reads more like a rant, and how many of us would not be Pissed off, after having a lously time trying to get somewhere only to find it closed.
By in fact Councill Bullying.

The date for submissions has passed.
Looks like decision is due 13/09.
There were few submissions in support and no objections which I was surprised by.
Either the vested interests are sure that he won't get approval, or maybe they will appeal the decision if he does.
Have to wait and see.

Perhaps the vested interests have learned not to put their head above the parapet and are confining their efforts to stirring it in the background.

It will be a corner turned ,if that is the case.
I have limited knowledge of planning, but the dog in the street, knows the councils take a dim view of retention as opposed to permission.
I'll be delighted if it gets planning,because , I think more community groups and individuals will look at providing locations.
