Very exciting news but the whole infrastructure has a long way to go to stay up with the game.
At present it is common to see a car park with say 100 spaces and possibly 2 or 3 charging points.
Also it will make for very quiet roads during power cuts.

Cop26 at its best, and you could not make it up.
President of America arrives in Edinburgh and restricts his convoy of vehicles to 24 gas guzlers to escort him to the conference in Glasgow for the next two weeks.
WTF can we ordinary folks do if this is the best that our leaders can do?

The company that I work for is heavy in the cloud space, our latest sales tactic that is working really well is carbon reduction. With the recent focus on climate change we have customers queueing up to transfer their data and compute to the cloud so the carbon reduction is on their books. The reality is that it is just transfered to the likes of Google, AVS or azure, for example if they have a datacenter with 100 servers they will more than likely transfer it to a mirror of the 100 servers in the cloud datacenter. There is minor reduction through effiencies but the source company will claim XX tones reduced.

One of the customers I work with a global (dirty) engery company and recently been targeted for falsly claiming their green credentials is claiming million + tonnes through the program.

Wrightbus prevents one million kgs of CO2 entering the atmosphere.

https://www.newsletter.co.uk/b…re-3440355

This is a possible example of misleading statistics and transfering the issue eslewhere. 1kg of hydrogen takes roughly 40kw'h of engery to produce and stores 33kwh of energy so a loss of 7kwh in production. If the hydrogen is made from 100% renewable that is a good news story if not then it could be very different. Also hydrogen engines are not that efficient right now, probably around 40/50%.

Diesel takes 5kw to produce 1ltr and stores 10kw plus they have a more effcient engine at 60/70%. If I could figure out the maths and the source of the hydrogen I would suspect that Wrightbus are not "preventing" co2 but "defering" it to source.

On the plus side there is no harm in cleaner cities.

dont forget that it makes great headlines to say one million kg's when that equates to 1000 tonnes.

Still not to be ignored but not as headline grabbing.

One of my pet peeves is people promoting their latest product made from recycled PET Bottles where the product could easily be made from another recycled plastic.
As a recycling stream, PET from drinks bottles is pretty much the most sought after plastic and commands a premium price, by using it, you're competing for a limited resource meanwhile other plastic materials are ending up incinerated or in landfill.
This extends to the PET bottle returns machines that they're introducing in some Lidl shops, by taking these bottles out of domestic recycling streams, it's reducing the viability of other recycling streams because the PET bottles are helping to fund the whole recycling operations.

So they are going to spend a huge chunk of money, that could go towards medical needs, in order to countetact a bunch of people, going on their Jollies.
Why not stop the " 72,500 flights from London to New York."

All planes need grounded except for emergencies, until they have planes that don't pollute. But that's never going to happen.

When someone is doing this over your home, they don't matter.

This during lock down, forgive me for not giving a dam, if some of them dropped down suddenly.
If a kid was doing donuts outside my house, the Gards could stop him, but no one seems to be able to stop these inconsiderate b******s from doing it in a plane over our Homes.
