Chinese diesel heaters

Hi all

The heater on my camper has pretty much had it. Its an old propex 1600 compact and I think the motor has had it. It rattles loudly if it starts at all.

Anyway I'm thinking of giving one of these cheap Chinese diesel heaters a go. They seem to get good reviews on youtube. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Have no experience with them but the whole stigma of "made in china" is gone for me as I struggle to find anything that's not made in China now these days or other spots in Asia.

That one in particular only has 16 reviews but they all seem pretty positive, I would recommend looking for another one with more reviews and see if you can get a general idea. If it's bad, people will definitely tell you. So yeah, if it's positive feedback from the people you should be golden IMO

Thanks for the input. Yeah i agree on losing the fear of the "made in China" tag. I have a €150 guitar with such a label that I enjoy playing more than a few more illustrious models i own. Its more the price that has me concerned. It seems too good to be true seeing as the propex and webasto ones seem to be anywhere from €700 - €1500.

Yeah the reviews seem grand on amazon and I've been hovering over the 'Buy' button but just thought I'd have a quick check in here. Probably silly but one review here negative or positive would probably have more sway for me than 10 on amazon :D

Well I got one fitted at the weekend and so far so good. I’m a member of the Talbot Owners Club and got my confidence from there. Anyone who has them speaks high of them.
At £90 you haven’t much to lose either

I payed £75 for mine and I have it on from 9.00 in the morning to bedtime everyday so far no problems the pump can be a bit noisey but I rapped mine in foam and hung it on two cable ties I also put a different silencer on mine one which cam of an old lawnmower which made it even quieter,if I ever change my camper I’ll definitely put another one in ,so now I have derv heater gas heater electric heater don’t think I’ll be stuck for heat

Thanks for the tip on the lawnmower exhaust Robert, yes some people think the exhaust is noisy and I happen to have a Honda lawnmower with a perfect engine but rotten body in the corner of the back lawn so I’ll investigate in the morning 👍

Thanks for the input folks. I've gone ahead and ordered one, yeah at the price you cant really go wrong. Great tip on the mower silencer. I'm sure I can find one for next to nothing somewhere.

hillton9 your camper must glow in the dark with all that heat :D

I fitted one last year great So far have it conected to the van tank
So no smelly tank inside the van very easy on fuel just need to get away
now be sure to get one with a remote very handy. Biggest problem I had was
finding a space for to fit it think it needs to be inside in the dry.

Haha sure no harm in that sprinter :D

Yeah where to put the tank is another question. I was considering putting it outside, maybe fixed to the underside? I'll know better once I have the thing in my hand. Would it be stupid to put it in the compartment next to the heater itself? I dont have the expertise to hook it up to the van tank, I'd likely blow something up.
