morning all from co Kerry ,well ive done a stupid thing thats going to cost me but its not the worst thing ive ever done ,anyway while checking Marlene (2000 Hymer Starline 680 ) in preparation for a get away next weekend i noticed dead flies in between the two layers of plastic that make up the roof window in the living area , so stupidly put hoover to the small vent hole and it sucked in the outer piece of plastic and broke ,i cant imagine a repair is possible and dont fancy being constantly reminded of my stupidity so any idea where to source a 2nd hand or new one the measurement is 755mm*1170 mm ,any help much appreciated ,alls ok for time being has its covered in gaffa tape ,thanks in advance

Bummer, I know the feeling ! i replaced a roof light from my hymer544 through donagheys for a cracked inner skin...it was VERY pricey and took ages to source (around 350euro i think!). Maybe try some UK sites of possible ebay.de if you know the model/]art number. Would a good quality glue or clear tape not work?

Try clear Gorilla Tape See Here . I always keep a roll, it's really good for fixing cracks and other damage more or less invisibly.

Always frustrating when a moment of carelessness causes a problem.
I recall standing on steps to check for a mystery leak around my Rimor rear window...I removed the travel-limiting stay and opened the window until it was fully 'up'....not realising that they weren't normal hinges, the window just sat in a top channel.
It promptly fell out of it's slot and dropped (in slow motion!) to crack on the ground.
Many hours of searching for a replacement, filling windscreen insurance forms etc. Just for a moment's lack of thought.
So, anyone else, what's the worst consequence of your MH maintenance mistake?

Drove off from a camp site once while still attached to EHU and ripped the input socket out of the side of the van. Replaced the socket and then two weeeks later did exactly the same thing reversing out of my driveway. Hence forth I always loop part of the cable over the drivers side mirror so even I cant miss it however................ Needed to move the van a few feet a couple of months ago and thought no need to unhook but didn't realise the front tyre went onto the cable as I moved back and bust the socket yet again. Some folk just neveer learn

Malcolm, what you need is a 220v normally closed switch on your starter solenoid wire.
220 plugged in no start.😁

I used to do the same with a trailer I had. Unhooked the trailer but forgot about the electrics.

We all make mistakes.
EVERY time I park up it's placed covering the dash instruments, removed and checked before I drive off.

Thats one of those ideas I keep meaning to do but never get around to but would certainly work. Must get finger out...........
